Pitt and syracuse to the ACC had Bern rumored for Weeks when it happened. Even smaller programs like those going to the Sun Belt had been leaked. I've not heard or read the first thing that would make me think Liberty is a serious player in a new conference. Anyone know or raff anything different?

There were no rumors about an invite for ODU to the C-USA either. I think this is different than in years past. The SEC didn't need to Texas A&M or Missouri in order to continue their dominance, it was a decision that they took a long time to discuss and vote on. The C-USA is trying to position their conference in a way that prevents them from becoming a WAC or MWest. The Sun-Belt and WAC are acting purely in survival mode at this point. The circumstances have changed and conferences are becoming desperate. That's why Liberty is in such a unique position, just as we're finishing our feasibility study, conferences are making huge movements. It wouldn't surprise me if we get invited to the C-USA, Sun-Belt or MAC tomorrow, it also wouldn't surprise me if we don't get invited for another ten years. Everything is just up in the air and will be until June 1st.

The other leak appears to be related to the CAA which has shown up in a couple of places and referenced w/Liberty & Coastal both potentially making a move; I wonder if this is will prompt additional discussion or hasten the conversations with the Sun Belt.

MURFREESBORO – MTSU is back in the mix for a spot in Conference USA, The Daily News Journal has learned.

Today, CUSA officially announced the addition of five member schools for 2013, but the reported sixth addition, Old Dominion, has delayed its decision of both moving to CUSA and the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A). If Old Dominion balks at a CUSA invitation or at least further delays it, MTSU will be a prime candidate to take its spot for 2013.

This is why I keep asking everyone to be patient (grasshopper). There are moves, like MTSU, to CUSA that we do not yet know about waiting to happen. Benson Knew that, and that is why he mentioned us. I guarantee JB and his folks know much more than we do.

Exactly, and it doesn't even have to happen this year. All the rumors before the 2011 season proved to be just a feeling out process for the most part. Now we're seeing more and more fall into place and it's likely that nobody is done yet. If FSU and Clemson bolt from the ACC, that turns up a few more scenarios. What happens if the ACC, Big 12, B1G, Pac 12 and SEC all finally decide to go to 16 teams? Do the MAC, CUSA, Sun Belt and MWC all do the same? Do Notre Dame and BYU keep floating around in their own little bizarro world?

Things aren't even close to settled yet. It wouldn't surprise me if we end up with 9-10 conferences of 16 teams each just in time for the FBS to go to a true playoff system and then having those conferences splinter off into smaller units. We'll be at the FBS level soon. Maybe not this year, but soon. If I were to wager on it, I'd say we announce by next summer that we're going to the Sun Belt in 2014.

Don't want to wait a year. I don't think Coach Gill came here to be a part of a 5 team Big South Conference. Any news on Coastal and Stony Brook? Are they for sure going?

why do you guys keep doing this to yourselves? Just wait for the announcement when it happens...

So what happens if we don't get an invite? Will Coach Gill leave? I want this too, but the more time that goes by the more I realize its probably not going to happen this time around. I could be wrong, but I just don't have a good feeling.

Ditto, this is moving way to slow, why did it take us this long to do a feasibility study? We should have known all our tangibles and how we can be attractive to others a long time ago. I think the admin is not as prepared as we all speculate to be.

BTW, I posted a little excerpt about what Lang said about the release of the feasibility study results in the football forum.

Im actually with jbock on this one...getting all worked up in either direction is not gonna help at all. There's no need for all this handwringing and "bad feelings" and what if scenarios...when an announcement comes, it comes, so we need to exercise a bit more patience and restraint than we seem to be at this point

I'll just say this much. We all know we are committed to going FBS. But a lot of conferences appear to be passing on us. Coach Gill came to bring us to FBS, there's no doubt. But then again, I wanted to talk about why teams are passing on us, but apparently 'logic' didn't like that.

I think both you and Jbock make good points, but this realignment stuff is really getting to some of the fans and this mums the word stuff irritating. Securing a conference invite by our admin is going slower than a one-fingered typist. I hope it is not one those things that we have all been seeing all the writing on the wall and were not getting a conference invite. I know that we will hear about the feasibility study results probably next week like Lang suggested but we as alumni deserve some speedier answers and our admin needs to be selling our school to FBS conferences with all sense or urgency and purpose as we use to say in the Navy! :frustrated

I for one, do not think that is something we should be getting angry about things that are the truth because conferences are passing us by. It the obvious but working with what we have we have to be able to show these Non-AQ conferences that meatloaf is just as appealing as steak dinner.

So we deserve speedier answers? Not really sure about that. As an alumni base we should be doing much more financially to support our school before we "deserve" anything. (Not speaking of you specifically, I have no idea your level of support). I have confidence in the admin, that they are doing the right thing. After all, we have a 40 year record of continuous improvement, that is a very positive thing.

It could be...but we need to temper ourselves at this point. If we get an invite...great! If we dont...no need to arm with torches and pitchforks and storm the chancellor and AD's doors over it. There is a reason that they are in the position they are in and the rest of us (myself included) are a bunch of keyboard jockeys talking on a message board. As flameshaw said...we dont necessarily "deserve" speedier answers. They shouldnt be rushing an announcement out just because we ask for it. they are doing due diligence with the feasibility study and with compiling all the information necessary and so we should trust they know what they are doing and let them release findings when they are ready to, no sooner because some of us feel we "deserve" to know sooner

Ok, I see your point, I am acting entitled as deserving speedier answers (my words), I sure hope that everyone's financial support that has been contributed throughout the years to LU ends up paying dividends in form of an FBS invitation. It seems that Liberty22 seems to know something the rest of the LU community does not know in regards to Sun Belt Expansion.

I agree. The tough part is waiting though. Whenever I see an invite, it feels like we are standing against the wall at P.E. waiting and hoping we will get picked! I have confidence that our leadership is doing all possible to position our school for an invite.

I like what you said here. I have full confidence in JB and our administration that they are doing the best job they can. We are waiting to be picked. But I've also said, we have much to accomplish at the FCS level here in the meantime. Let's not get so far into the future, that we forget about right now. Unfortunately I feel a lot of our fans do that.

People are making all kinds of assumptions. I, the wet blanket, am here to put a little CHILL OUT on the whole thing. They said JFLJR will get a presentation of the report on monday, not that an announcement is scheduled at all. The SunBelt meeting is Monday, but that may be a cooincidence. Gill in Atlanta has been scheduled for a while. Look I see all the pieces too, but I fail to see how they fit together. I choose to be a patiente grasshopper and wait for an announcement.
