Conference USA, which has four schools departing to the Big East next season, is reloading by adding six schools in 2013, industry sources told CBSSports.com.
Florida International, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Texas San Antonio, Charlotte and Old Dominion will join C-USA giving the league 14 members. However, it's not clear how soon after 2013 Charlotte, which is beginning its football program in 2013, and ODU, currently in the FCS, would be able to compete as a C-USA football member.
An official announcement could come as early as Friday, sources said.

The problem for us with the Sunbelt is that we aren't close to anyone. There's some talk that the Sun Belt would consider offering New Mexico St. a "life-line" and save them from destruction. I highly doubt that because the WAC decided not to renew Benson's contract. He may still have a grudge against all old WAC teams. Also, New Mexico St. is pretty decent in basketball, but absolutely stink in football. All of the moves now are for football, not basketball.

The MAC would be a horrible fit. I'm sure the citizens of Lynchburg will be looking forward to the match up with the Chippewas and the Zips

Plus the travel is not as far as going to texas or louisiana, and i think locals would come see LU play western or central michigan being that they do play ACC schools at times and the namesof all the schools are more well known than LA-Lafayette or LA-Monroe or some other the other sunbelt schools. Plus ESPN family of networks contract and better bowl games. You realize I'm a Midwest guy right,? I just don't see how this fits us. Now if we were closer to Ohio, then sure. At least our State borders Tennessee. Growing up in MAC country I just don't see the advantage to them.

before you try and crucify me haize, im not a midwest guy so you pick the two ohio schools that would be closest to the michigan and indiana schools for the western division.
The conference plans to announce the addition of five new members by Friday, the source said - Charlotte, Florida International, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, and Texas-San Antonio. They will replace four schools that are leaving to join the Big East in 2013.They want ODU to decide by Friday. JMU, Towson and Delaware were also mentioned in the article as considering moves up to FBS. Also mentioned: C-USA wants to get to 16 teams. Should ODU reject, Middle Tennessee State gets the invite to be C-USA's 14th team.
