Pac picks up: UNLV, Nevada, Utah St
AAC: Air Force
Free Agents: Wyoming, New Mexico, Hawaii, San Jose St

Hawaii feels like an FCS move. But maybe Wyoming and New Mexico St could be nice additions to CUSA to shore up the west. Would FCS schools in Montana and the Dakotas really want to move up for what remains of the MWC?

Edit: Looks like Air Force is staying in the MWC and they're working to keep UNLV and Utah St too. Which if they pull that off then the Pac's search for teams gets extremely wacky. Do they go for low perception programs like NMSU or Utep? Do they go super far east with Liberty and someone else? Or would they even dare do call ups from the FCS?

This is all about economics. But I have to admit some of these moves are surprising. I can't think of one good reason that Nevada is getting the call. The Reno market and terrible athletic program ... no thanks. UNLV & Utah State seem like obvious grabs if they couldn't pull anyone from the AAC.

If Gonzaga is coming it has to be tied to Hawaii football only.

I am starting to believe that LU to Pac or MWC is not a ridiculous conversation.

The Pac has to take a team in Texas and can make it financially worth it for Texas State. Otherwise, the pickings just got significantly slimmer.

Hmmm ... anybody know a school who doesn't have to be financially enticed into upgrading their league? It would be a costly move for the Olympics but we are already chartering jets in CUSA.

I honestly don't know who pac 6 goes after next. Seems like they'll need to start looking east but if the AAC schools are committed that doesn't leave many good options.

There's still one more full spot left in the Pac at a minimum and potentially a football-only deal. I wrongly assumed that UNLV was a done deal. Perhaps the Pac shouldn't have been so picky in their first round and also thrown a bone to Colorado Springs & Vegas.

Can't blame the Aggies given the two options. Supposedly San Jose State has also committed to staying in the MWC. Not that the Pac was particularly interested up until this point.

Am I the only one who senses that at this moment Ian is re-dialing San Ramon constantly in case somebody answers? The crazy turns of this afternoon have created an intriguing possibility. The Pac just moved into desperation zone and I suspect we would be one of a very small number of schools in a position to act if invited. Outside of Texas State, the toptions just became rather unattractive for the Pac.

We would need some sort of travel partner. I have no clue who that would be.

If only LU had a jet...hmm  . On a serious note, sports strength of schedule increase tremendously. I believe the field hockey team can stay in the big east. Do the other schools in the PAC have swimming and diving bybany chance? Anyway, I shouldn't get too deep into the possibility haha.

Am I being too short sighted to think the travel across time zones is going to kill our fans? I don’t want this. But two weeks in a row watching football waaaaay past midnight is fully informing my recency bias.

Do we not have exponentially more on the east coast.

And I live in the east coast, so I don’t care. Two weekends in a row with games ending after 2am will test anyone’s limits. Me no likey!!

How many road games do you East Coasters attend a season? My guess is 1 or 2 at the most. So this really has little to do with the impact on fans. There would be some travel concerns for the athletes. But thankfully our school is equipped to handle those obstacles more than just about any other.

If we can elevate our brand and increase the odds of us potentially being in the mix for the CFP then I believe it is a no-brainer ...if we are somehow up to the Pac standards. And that is a big IF.

But it has been a crazy night with the MWC MoU allegedly falling apart with Utah State bolting. Now both UNLV & AFA are reconsidering their options since nothing legal is in place and the circumstances have changed.

How many times must I say it: “TWO WEEKENDS IN A ROW PAST 2AM!!! The bags under my eyes had bags under THEIR eyes! I just don’t think my REM cycle can take a west coast league, and surely I am not alone. I actually took a nap on Sunday afternoon, and honest-to-God afternoon snooze. I snored through an NFL game like my Uncle Ernie used to. I’M NOT THAT OLD!! And to say nothing of what this will do to @ballcoach, what with Liberty in a league as the only southeastern school, are you mad? It will positively kill him! DO YOU WANT THAT BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS?!??!! (Don’t answer that; I’m sure some of you wouldn’t mind. Haters.)

I hear ya. I spend much of my professional life these days working EMEA & APAC at crazy hours. If we move to a western-based league, I will be happy to introduce you to the practice of stair-stepping. It is not just for overseas travel.

But you do bring up a point of significantly increasing the amount of pedal power required to get ballcoach to league games. He might start peddling now to be there if we get invited in a year or two.

In case you are wondering what the Pac was doing to sweeten the offer to attract the AAC schools ... apparently mot much. They were offering a tiny fraction of what they are paying the MWC jail-breakers.

Do they just think these things won’t get out? Who wants to join a league only to find out they fell for a lesser pitch by agreeing to a smaller take?

It’s like the PAC is doomed to repeat itself.

I get why our fans are talking about Liberty to the PAC 12. What I don’t get is why in the world it would be a realistic possibility at all for the PAC 12 to consider.

I gotta think that they’d almost rather their conference die than add us and they will have options (albeit lesser than initially thought).
