Everyone knows that I would LOVE to see a IA conference that would involve both Marshall and LU.

Try 2,000...they're way more fun and challenging :D

However, I agree that with the rapid changes this mess can be confusing.

The problem is, as far as I've been paying attention, which is not really much more than skimming this thread once a week, the MWC/CUSA is not a merger but an alliance. So they keep their respective FBS rights.

I'm also convinced that if an FBS league were to implode and leave an empty shell for FCS teams to fill, the NCAA would do something to stop it. Their recent APR punishment adjustments are retroactive so they've shown they're willing to go back in time to make up rules.

Just to make you feel worse, Sly -- LaRosas is now in New Boston ;-)

I actually at the older one in Friesing for dinner. The white asparagus is in season. I hit some of the München spots the other day. The glockspiël at Marienplatz was actually pretty cool.

Been to both and you are right. Also at the Hoffbrauhaus. I once had a ham steak there and then they cracked an egg over it and it cooked on the ham, pretty cool. Also, watching them carrying 6-8 beer steins is amazing.

So you think the CAA is out for us? :D See I'm on topic!

Well I think Sly mentioned this before - but I don't think that's our goal. W - L records and strength of schedule don't really play into the determining factors when it comes to move-ups from FCS to FBS. I mean just look at UNC-Charlotte... they don't even have a program, yet they are a top consideration for any FBS conference looking to add a few teams.

While we wait and filter through a ton of rumors, there is some news to report ...

Keel: There’s no question it’s where we want to go

Georgia Southern University wants to move its football program to the NCAA’s highest level of competition – the Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly known as Division I-A. “There’s no question it’s where we want to go,” GSU President Brooks Keel said Thursday.

This is not a shock to anyone. It had been assumed by most all along. This simply confirms the intentions of the Eagles. Certainly seeing the other GSU in Atlanta get an FBS invitation only hastened the calls from alumni to put this out into the open. Frankly they have a shot at a Sun Belt invitation based primarily on proximity to current SBC geographical footprint. Outside of the Sun Belt, they really have a much lower chance of landing an invitation than we do.

The buzz about possible MAC expansion is finally starting to pick up some steam at the same time that the CAA is looking very vulnerable. If the MAC does indeed consider a Mid-Atlantic reach then you can put JMU, ODU and LU at the top of their list along with Youngstown State.

It's good to hear that the MAC is possibly exploring expansion options. I posted in another topic that the Sun Belt's main goal this round of expansion is tv markets. I personally felt the MAC was in position of sit tight and wait. However given the dynamics of Temple leaving, finding a "partner" for UMass may push the MAC's stance on expanding sooner. What's conflicting is that some members on their message boards prefer to go back to 12 schools.

As usual, we're still in a 'wait-and-see' mode. I wouldn't object to either a Sun Belt or a MAC invitation at this point, especially with the CAA in disarray and possibly looking at Big South members like Stony Brook and Coastal Carolina to join. If that happens, the Big South would be a FCS version of the WAC.
