actually my grandfathers dog i had to put down because it got a taste for blood. there was really nothing wrong with it...we did it as a preventative measure...

my grandfather has killed many dogs/cats and he learned it from his parents and grandparents...farm cats or dogs had babies?...kill them...while he wasn't getting rid of by electrocuting them or torturing them, he did shoot/slit/break these animals because there were too many....he kept dogs to chase aaway coyotes, he had cats for the mice...he didn't need too many so when there were more than he needed he killed a few....i find/found nothing wrong with this...

Michael vicks "alleged" actions while not necessarily the same thing they are similar...he had a need for these animals...when the animals didn't meet that need, he euthanized them...there are kennels all across america that are full to the brim with dogs...what do you do with 20 dogs that you can't use?...sellthem? thats a hassle

once agian, i don't condone what hes doing, he should of never bred the dogs for those purposes in the first place....

its just the actually euthanizing isn't the thing that bothers me about this whole thing...its that he broke the law....

he taught me so much about respecting the outdoors....hes confined to a wheelchair now...i asked him if he had heard about this....his response "disgraceful"...

he said he had only drowned cats a few times....collect them, put them in a potato sack with a rock and throw them into a river....but he never did it again but he didn't like them to suffer....

My grandfather got litter of kittens and puppies and when they got older he had them shot. Needless to say I have no love or respect for my grandfather. He was cruel and good hearted. He never had to take the animals in the first place. Mankind they want they treat animals most of the time will treat humans the same.
I remember a little dog that my grandfather had one summer I was there, I would go target shooting in the hills. Everytime I laid down the dog would get on my back and sit there as long as I laid there. The following summer I asked what happened to the dog, my cousin said my grandfather had the dog shot. After that I had a hate for my grandfather. I never trusted the man at all.

I've never heard of dog fighting with any other demographic. I know in the past, centuries ago, it was something that the upperclass did (like cock fighting), but I'm talking currently. I could be wrong, but I'm just speaking from personal experience.
In the town just north of where I live in Florida there was a dog fighting ring that was busted 4 or 5 years ago, the person who was the ringleader of it all was some redneck and he had connections throughout the state with other rednecks and he entered a plea bargain and in return he gave the names of several other rednecks....but I am not going to lie, that was the first time I had ever heard of white people involved in dogfighting....

on a lighter note, I thought this story was funny
Embattled NFL quarterback Michael Vick, facing federal charges related to his alleged participation in dogfighting, has been hit with a "$63,000,000,000 billion dollar" lawsuit filed by a South Carolina inmate who alleges the Atlanta Falcons star stole his pit bulls and sold them on eBay to buy "missiles from Iran," FOX News has learned.

Jonathan Lee Riches filed the handwritten complaint over "theft and abuse of my animals" on July 23 in the U.S. District Court in Richmond, Va.

Riches alleges that Vick stole two white mixed pit bull dogs from his home in Holiday, Fla., and used them for dogfighting operations in Richmond, Va. The complaint goes on to allege that Vick sold the dogs on eBay and “used the proceeds to purchase missiles from the Iran government.”

evidently Vick is a terrorist now too...haha...

i do not know if anyone heard his apology, but i believe it was sincere. his demeanor was way different from his first day in court than today when he walked in to the presser with his head and shoulders slumped. vick has never been a great public speaker, so i really think what he said was from the heart. i can appreicate the afct he told youngsters to think before they do something. of course you have to think is vick sorry for what he did, or is he sorry that he got caught? we will ultimately never know, but he has apologized, and he will have plenty of time to think about changing his life which i hope he does, and one point was brought up on fox sports radio was that vick will lift and get bigger while in prison and IF he gets back in the NFL, he will be a running back. i do not buy any excuses from people about where he grew up his color, social class, etc. even if you do not like dogs, he committed a crime and has to deal with the consequences which it appears he was very stand up. personally i will be glad when the sentencing occurs and it all dies down.

I also thought it was more sincere than not. I tend to trust people too easily and believe these apologies more than most people, but what spoke to me more than anything was that he didn't read from a script. He spoke from his heart and what popped in his head is what he said.

I believe the apology, but now comes the hard part. It's easy to realize you did something wrong and apologize for it. It's even easier to slip back into that lifestyle. If he can go out and change the way he does things and becomes a better person, then we'll know he's truly sorry and that he's changed.

Noteworthy in his comments was that he "found Jesus and dedicated his life to him." I thought that was huge if he really meant it. I know when everyone gets in trouble especially going to jail or in jail they "find religion" but I really hope that he was sincere and that he will turn his life around. I thought his comments were sincere. Sean King (former QB) is on ESPN First Take and he is obviously a Christian and I really like what he is saying about this situation. Everything he is saying makes it obvious Sean is a Christian.

If he found Jesus good, now if he can find another league to play in, even better. I hope he is banned from the NFL for life, for the gambling aspect thank you

Soooo, what caused the change in the title of this thread? I'm not sure when it was changed, but I still hold to the original title of "Send Vick to jail for a long time."

For the record, I am happy that he found Jesus, but he still needs to do his time.

He can have a 2nd chance in the CFL like I said before, he setup a gambling ring and should be banned for life by the NFL rules they have. Of course he should be ban for the killing of innocent dogs as far as I am concerned. I know people who have had pit bulls stolen out of their yards, I wonder if those dogs ended up in Vick's kennel or someone's else and ended up dead because they didnt perform to standard.
Anyway any one who murder animals like Vicks did have no heart as far as I am concerned. Forgiveness is easy, forgeting and trusting someone like him is another thing. I am sick of people who want him back in the league because he is such a great TALENT. PLEASE

Boy although killing dogs is horrific I just dont know anymore. Sure Mike Vick did alot of wrong but we all flip out over what 60 dogs and yet how many people a day are aborted because they are "inconvinent"? Those are his dogs, let him do what he wants with them especially if we can ease our conscience by saying well its her fetus she can do what she wants with it. Not that thats completly how I feel however there are much more important things that people look the other way on and yet make a big deal out of this.
