If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

I hope LU has nothing to do with the Sunbelt. They just cut two teams loose without even bringing it to a vote. Their college presidents don't care. When something's questionable, they don't even vote. Imagine if LU joined and got kicked out 4 years later. Terrible.

I just hope the Big South gets its stuff in order to be stronger. The institution presidents and Kyle should be working together to make some moves. The Big South needs to be reaching out to Hampton. I made a T-shirt that I wore to the opening Big South Tournament basketball games that said, "The Big South needs to add Hampton...Kyle and the presidents, make this happen!". I had it printed on both sides. I wore that on day one, and then my LU shirt on day two. If Hampton truly is looking for options outside the MEAC, the Big South should be reaching out.

While the conference is at it, it should be offering Savannah State an invitation for all sports, and also trying to find a way to help Campbell move its football over from the Pioneer. That would get the Big South to 12 Basketball members and 8 Football members. I think those are perfect numbers, especially for an FCS conference. The Big South would be better than the SoCon, and, although not as strong as the CAA, it would have a much better regional footprint.

A couple of things.

1. If the Big South should do anything, Kyle Kollander won't do that thing, especially if it involves him being proactive.

2. Hampton would be fine. Can't say the same thing for Savannah State (in fact, I might prefer to bring back Birmingham Southern before inviting Savannah State). Campbell plays in the PFL, which is a non-scholarship conference, for football, I believe.

I meant add Kennesaw State for all sports. They already are a football only member...adding them for all sports and adding Hampton gets us to 12 for basketball. Don't know why I typed Savannah State.

I agree, just say no to Savannah State. Hampton would be awesome, but they're still holding out for the CAA. Kennesaw State would also be a good all sports addition as well. As for Campbell, can they afford scholarship football?

I am guessing that they could. A lot of old Raleigh money down there. However, not sure scholarship D1 type players could stomach living in Downtown Buies Creek. It is just a small step up from a landfill. Great golf course though.

Campbell definitely has the money. Not quite the infrastructure, but they could get there. They just flat-out don't want. I have a buddy working down there. Study after study has told them it'd be a really tough go.

IF (I am not advocating) the NCAA were to grant the ability for us and other FCS schools to move up to FBS Indy status, what would our schedule realistically look like?

Even then, I don't think we would stoop that low.

Would the Big South let us stay if we moved football out? Would the Atlantic Sun or America East let us in if the Big South said we had to move everything out?

The Big South situation is tough to read. But if they told us we had to leave then we could certainly find a place like those you mentioned to accept us for our other sports.

Probably some of if not all the indy's:
BYU
Army
UMass
New Mexico State
Idaho

Then some regoinal, non P-5 schools (rotating):
ODU/ECU
App State/Charlotte
Marshall/MTSU

One P-5
One FCS

And don't forget that if we find a way then there likely is another school or two coming along with us. Other than BYU not likely scheduling us much, I think you are close to dead on, Atrain.

In all honesty, we could probably get Navy and Air Force on our schedule too. Even though they have a conference home, both schools struggle to find teams. Navy in particular has a difficult time for reasons that are similar to our current situation in the Big South. They won't be strong enough to add a great value to your SOS but because they are a headache to prepare for, they don't guarantee you a win either. If we did go the independent route (not that we should obviously), Navy would actually be a great opponent for us to play each season.
