Plenty of that here as well, especially from Sly. The problem is that letting them go no longer means they have to add anyone else.

The only real benefit to us is that there likely will be two more FBS schools looking to schedule late season games should we somehow find ourselves as an FBS independent. And once again, I am very aware that NCAA Bylaws prohibit that from happening right now. Things could change in that regard over the course of the next year or so.

In other words, he knows something about that last point but can't tell us. Typical Sly :P

It's no secret that those bylaws look to be highly vulnerable to a legal challenge. It's just a question of who will do it and when, and whether the NCAA will even think it's worth the trouble and expense to fight it.

Liberty's administration is crazy enough to try it.

We may not need to take a legal route. In fact, I don't expect any litigation to be involved in our possible FBS membership. Hearing unconfirmed whispers from third parties and they are encouraging.

If there is one way to describe me over the past decade on here is that I am consistent. Not always right but always consistent.

No direct knowledge on this one from firsthand sources. Just hearing rumors that may be completely out of leftfield. But they are all encouraging.

One rumor that I am hearing states that the NCAA may be willing to create an exception to their FBS conference invitation rule that would allow a few schools to come up in order to help the current and future FBS indys fill their schedules. With two more indys looking to stay alive beginning in 2018, it is not crazy talk. I have even heard discussion that the WAC might be given some sort of special exemption in order for it to revive FBS football with affilates in order to help out the programs with no home.

Neither seems likely but where there is smoke there is occassionally fire.

And for the record, I would not classify our chances with a couple of current FBS leagues as completely dead. Stay tuned.

The actual !itigation may not end up being necessary, but that doesn't mean the threat of it won't play a big factor. The NCAA knows they are on shaky legal ground with those bylaws.

It wasn't just athletic facilities,I saw JB giving a group of people a tour of the library and overheard him talking him about different academic programs for athletes.

That has happened once a year for about 4 or 5 years now. Not saying it doesn't mean anything but don't get too excited.

I have heard that someone out of ODU is pushing for the C-USA to get to 16. Not sure if that rumor is true or not but our positioning with the C-USA is actually pretty favorable if they were to consider expansion this year. I believe they are losing quite a bit of money from their TV deals next season. We can offer a great financial stability obviously but there may be some opportunity to leverage FSN as a huge asset to the conference.

How would going to 16 be a benefit for C-USA?

How many TV sets would we actually bring to the conference?

At least one...ballcoach's. Plus some others from time to time.

You're right on the CUSA front... not so much on the AAC. They did make the comparison, but I don't think it was necessarily "favorable."
