I just think Gordon's a jerk, and that's coming from people who have went to church with him. His ex-wife's grandma lived in my hometown and he'd routinely go to church there. Don't have too many good reports about him.

Gordon is first class....and Postman you are missing out on a great thing...I love NASCAR and it was painful to watch BV make the race and then make a bee-line for the wall   Medic just admitt it...Ford sucks!!!!!! and just for the record NASCAR proved that it was not rigged because a Dodge didn't win the race...They could have called as many cautions as they wanted and still would have not helped them out...On to Charlotte for the next month

SJ, you base that you do not like someone, because of hearsay?? and it has to do with with ex-wife?? that was a nasty divorce in any regard. medic will never be able to give credit where credit is due, so that's ok too. his old hag driver mark martin is better because he is using hendrick engines. i just find it completely hilarious that even if someone does not like the 24 that they cant acknowledge his greatness as a driver, and his contributions to society with the jeff gordon foundation. but this is what makes NASCAR what it is. postman, you are missing out.

I've met Jeff Gordon (not at a race) and I liked the guy. However, I failed to develop a mancrush on him.

I just don't like him. There's a lot of people I don't like in sports based on hearsay (the Petty's are some of them). That doesn't mean I can't admit he's good. I just don't have a man-crush on him like you do.

I use to watch a lot more nascar when i was still living at home, my dad watches it every week...it has grown stale over time. and the fans annoy me....The reasons people give for not liking Jeff Gordon are even more ridiculous then I had even though....they talk about about Dale Sr. as if he is God and anybody that dare say different is frowned upon.....Dale didn't exactly come off as the nicest of guys.....I could tell a story about the day Dale Sr died that would have all of nascar nation hating me....but i will refrain from doing so....

I did at one time enjoy watching the races, but over time I have lost interest....I still follow it...and will tune in from time to time....but thats about it

oh, do share.

I'm no member of Earnhardt nation.

I think little-E really ought to spend more time driving and less time shooting TV commercials, honestly.

Just because it says Bud on the car doesn't mean that there is Bud in the car....That commercial is great.. Medic you know you like that.

no man crush here SJ. he is just one of the greatest drivers ever and i get tired of the hating on him for no good reason. it would be different if he acted like a jerk all the time, but it is just not the case.

agreed.

one of the few things I cheered about this week.

the 01 had a nice podium finish as well- not that it means much in this particular race.

that was definitely the highlight to an otherwise boring all-star event (still the "Winston" to me)
couldn't have happened to two nicer people

the old man's CHEVY was up front again

too bad for flat tires and speeding penalties

Sources: Martin to stand in if baby calls away Gordon
By Marty Smith
If Jeff Gordon is forced to miss a race to attend the birth of his daughter, series veteran Mark Martin will man the No. 24 Chevrolet, multiple sources within the Hendrick Motorsports organization told ESPN.com Wednesday.

Martin on Wednesday afternoon will be fitted for a racing seat in preparation for the substitute role, sources said, and plans to begin stand-by duty for Gordon at Infineon Raceway next month.

Hendrick Motorsports officials chose not to comment, saying rather that Gordon would address the matter Thursday at Lowe's Motor Speedway, site of this weekend's Coca-Cola 600.

Sources said Gordon personally sought out Martin to stand in for him, and after clearing the idea with Ginn Racing officials, Martin gladly accepted.

even with the 24 getting involved in that wreck, hendrick still comes through with their number four driver! it was a good race, though it is way too long. cut this race down to 500 miles. who is still the series leader??? enough said!

The attrition of a 600 mile race is what makes it unique. Wonder how many had Mears, Sorenson, and Petty in their fantasy leagues this week.

nothing unique about this race IMO. you really do not have to watch till about 10:00 pm and of course the first 100 laps because other than a good wreck, there is nothing to it in the middle, whereas races like bristol, richmond, pocono, you could miss something if you step away. shorten the race!
