Michael Vick has been hired as Norfolk State’s next head football coach, per David Teel.

It looks like Sam Houston hired Phil Longo as their new head coach. He was their OC under Keeler for several years but more recently has been an assistant at Ole Miss & North Carolina. He was OC at Wisconsin this year but was canned after a disappointing season for the Badgers offense. He is an Air Raid guy.

Not exactly a glamorous hire but we will see how it works out.

Sam does not have significant resources to invest in their athletic programs right now for a number of reasons including their system. They do not have the resources that have been granted to the other major university systems in Texas without access to the PUF. They just invested a great deal in launching their new medical school and are in the midst of upgrading their academics. CUSA came out of nowhere for them and they weren't prepared. But adjustments are underway including football upgrades that began the day after our season finale in Huntsville. Keeler's package allegedly was in the $600k annually range which is on par with about half of the other programs in the league. Not sure what Longo is getting but I doubt it is more than Keeler who was his old boss.

This is however a G5 opening in a significant recruiting hotbed. So while they can't make any splash hires, they are an attractive gig.

Would be the worst coaching hire of all time... Like him as a x and o's coach, but no way he navigates recruiting and NIL.
