The Group of 5 sits in a precarious position.

The conferences have a guaranteed spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff. For the first time, every team has a path to a football national championship. The hard-fought battle for access has paid off. But the financial divide between the Power 4 and Group of 5 has never been greater. It could become greater if the House settlement is approved, allowing schools to pay athletes directly.
