I'm glad to be back covering LU since that was the reason for me joining The News & Advance staff back in late 2012. That near year of covering the Flames, plus being able to watch Lang work in person and how he spent countless hours devoted to providing accurate and timely news, will help me get back into the flow. Plus, I have a blog on the website now, so I can at least do my best to match the amount of content Lang produced on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

And, I was relieved to see that I was liked among the LU faithful. It won't be too terribly long before I'm gearing up for the trip to Morgantown.
You have temporary approval from :flamingdevil Don't let it go to your head!

More important question: Will you quietly make fun of the stupid things that Liberty does under your breath when you're around people you trust?

I do the same thing in front of Liberty fans too so it's not really under my breath.

Chris Lang wrote:Thanks for the kind words, everyone. As you all know, the news business is volatile right now, and this was too good of a move for me professionally and financially to pass up. Working normal hours for the first time in my adult life was an appealing part of the position as well. Damien Sordelett will slot into my spot, though I'm going to finish up strong here the next two weeks. The Delaware State game will be my last, and Damien will take over full time after that.
So Damien will have the honor of writing up the biggest win in Liberty's history on his first assignment? :D

We can hope, but I wouldn't bet on it. I just pray we come out of that game healthy.

Yeah, certainly tongue in cheek about winning the game. But we do hang strong till 4th quarter in most of these games. Depth takes over then.

Technically, my first assignment was the Liberty-Concord football game in 2012. I could feel the tension in the press box of how close that game was (21-13). My assignments during my first tenure on the beat included the Stony Brook upset of 2012 (at the time, the first victory for the program over a top-five team), the men's basketball team's run to the Big South tournament title in 2013, and baseball winning the Big South and going to the Columbia regional final in 2013.

Lang was the best in the business in covering FCS and LIberty. So I completely understand the admiration for Lang. My goal is to provide the same level of journalism Lang provided.
