Virginia University of Lynchburg’s Board of Directors has dwindled to two members — one of whom is VUL President Ralph Reavis — according to State Corpora-tion Commission filings and inter-views with former board members.

The fact that no one from the school will talk and that others are distancing themselves really raises questions about what is or has been going on there. Simply mismanagement or is there more?

It looks like they are down to where Reavis pretty much is running a one man show there. That raises a big red flag for me because as the President, he should be doing everything he can to prevent this from happening and maintain a legitimate and active board to make him accountable. It looks like just the opposite is taking place. If their board of trustees can get their act together enough to conduct an audit, I would look very closely at the access he had to school funds.

My guess is that he has a contract that is not being honored. The other possibility could be age discrimination, depending on the age of the person who replaced him. Regardless, I suspect it is going to be hard to get anything of value from the school, even if he wins a suit. He will be way down the line on a list of creditors if it comes to that.
