If Holland can put together a full 90 like the 10-15 minute section in the game yesterday where they took control, they will win...if they play like they did most of the rest of the match...Spain will win easily

I'm picking España here. Germany was playing insanely well this tournament and Spain actually played better than them for much of the game today. I think it's going to be a lot of fun to watch on Sunday!

I picked Holland in the final from the start, but I thought they'd be playing Argentina. I've always loved the way the Dutch play and their wealth of talent, so I hope they finally win it this year.

the way Spain hogged the ball today it would have been hard for anyone to score on them, but I don't think the Nederlanders will let them get away with that.

Holland 2-1 Spain

Tough call. I picked Spain from the get-go, so I'll ride the horse until it dies...but that might be sometime Sunday afternoon (eastern time).

Predictably. There is so much at stake in the last couple of rounds of the WC that everyone plays it really close to the vest. It would have been a major surprise if either team had scored 2 goals.

Going back on the "Will Americans ever really care about soccer" argument, this is interesting:
Wow: The World Cup Final shattered U.S. ratings records on Sunday, drawing 24.3 million U.S. viewers.

Domestically, that makes it the most-watched soccer game of all time, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The 1-0 victory by Spain, televised by ABC and Univision, surpasses the 19.4 million viewers that tuned in for the U.S. vs. Ghana match earlier in this World Cup.

We're on a missions trip this week and missed the game. On Sunday afternoon, we were on the bus getting a tour of inner city Jacksonville and I had the game cast up on my phone. After that, we had a meeting back at the church about everything. When that meeting was over the game was in the 103rd minute. About 10-15 of us ran over to the gym and pulled the game up on a computer and were sitting packed around the screen.

The next generation to hit the 18-35 range is the one that really could change the perception of soccer here.

Does not matter how many people in USA watched the game, outcome is the same. Boring

I just saw this article in Christianity Today from June 25th. Ghana: The Team That Prays Together
Captain John Mensah (right) told the German news service DPA that prayer is no afterthought.

"We are Christians and we all know how important God is," he said. "We all respect God and we pray every time before the game and after the game. ... We praise God, what he has done for us. Then the next day is match-day, so we use that opportunity to give us strength and help us go on into the game."

There's going to be a professional indoor soccer league in 2011. Count me as one who thinks that could be interesting, although I'm more a fan of futsal.

Yeah, we have seen how well indoor soccer has done the past. If indoor football has trouble surviving then soccer's chances aren't any better. And this coming. From an St. Louis Steamers fan from back in the day.

Incidentally indoor soccer is still a blast to play.
