Buster Olney has something about it on ESPN, but I can't access it 'cause my cpu doesn't have the updated flash player or whatever, and I'm not downloading it either.

Big O's fan. It's not that I dislike Trembley, it's just time to go. Hopefully an interim manager to finish the year, and then maybe Cal Ripken Jr. by the spring (which has been previously discussed). Not that that will fix anything, but anything has got to better than 15-39. The roster is riddled with guys on the DL, that's not Trembley's fault. The poor hitting, fielding, and bullpen pitching is half his fault (cause he puts guys in weird positions) and half his is players fault.

Winter, from one O's fan to another, here are the first 3 paragraphs of the article:
NEW YORK -- Amid several reports and the growing speculation that Orioles manager Dave Trembley will be dismissed prior to Friday's series opener against the Boston Red Sox, several players spoke out about their much-maligned manager taking all the criticism for a 15-39 start.

"We're the ones that throw the ball, we are the ones that swing the bats and catch the ball," designated hitter Luke Scott said. "All the manager can do is put his best nine out there. I mean, it's not his fault. What can you say? It's a very difficult game. It's unfair in a lot of aspects [to put all the blame on Trembley]. All you can do is focus on tomorrow."

According to a blog by the Baltimore Sun's Dan Connolly Thursday afternoon, the Orioles could dismiss Trembley from his role as manager as early as Thursday night, although waiting until Friday morning is a more likely scenario. The report cited sources familiar with president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail's line of thinking, and said Trembley will be immediately replaced by an internal candidate on an interim basis. The job could be filled by third-base coach and former All-Star Juan Samuel, although first-year bench coach Jeff Datz is also an option.

Juan Samuel will be the interim manager. He's relatively young so if good things happen he can stay or if the season remains similar to what it is now, the O's can just hire Cal or Bobby Valentine or someone else with some name recognition and a decent track record at the end of the season. I hate to say it, but I hope the pitching coach Terry Crowley is gone next year too.

As a loyal but long-suffering O's fan, I have mixed feelings about Trembley being fired. He seems like a class guy, but it's a case of a nice guy being buried in last place. I started the season with illusions that the Birds had a real shot at being a .500 club with the promising young pitchers starting to hit their stride, but apparently it was more like being delusional. The injuries have hurt (Pie is a classic example, he was finally beginning to show real signs of living up to promise). We still need a power hitter in the lineup (although Wigginton has been a nice surprise), a leadoff guy with Roberts still out, a first baseman, a shortstop who can hit (along with about every team), maybe a catcher who can hit, better arms in the bullpen... good luck Juan Samuel.
