You can't be a Liverpool fan and have a soft spot for Everton. That's like being a Red Sox fan but having a soft spot for the Yankees cause you like one of their players.
I should rephrase that, I will always root against Everton, especially when they are playing Liverpool, but I am a huge fan of Tim Howard. Especially considering what he's had to go through with tourette's and all.

It's about frickin time he showed up and did something good. He didn't play well at all on Saturday.

With that said, my favorite Villa fan is in England right now so I couldn't talk crap as easily.

Arsenal with a big win over a bad team today... most goals scored in the entire EPL. This will be a fun race to watch at the top of the league.

Portsmmouth is in an intresting predicament. If they cannot prove they are getting out of their debts soon, they may be disbanded from the league.

This exile could mean all results throughout the year are cancelled. It just happened in Belgium and a wipe of all Portsmouth games would only make the Top 4 race that much closer. Arsenal, Aston Villa and Man U would all lose points while a team like Liverpool isn't reeling from their loss.

It's just FA cup. While it is a huge upset, it's not an EPL match, or a Champions League match, so it doesn't mean as much. At least I figure it doesn't, based on the way Arsenal is playing against West Ham, and the lineup they're using.

Liverpool
David Bick, chairman of Square 1 Consulting, has exposed the depth of the financial crisis gripping Liverpool, with the club facing a struggle to keep up with interest payments on their debts.

The replacement or refurbishment of Anfield is a key issue in any takeover.

The city expert in football finances, with links to Keith Harris, who was involved in two takeover bids at Liverpool, has now informed Soccernet of the deepening threat to Liverpool, with top players liable to be sold as a consequence of their failure to reach the Champions League.

Bick told Soccernet: "I fear that, looking at the figures, Liverpool are in grave danger of not being able to continue to pay their interest bill for very much longer. Based on the existing figures, the interest repayments on the loans are £36 million a year.
West Ham
David Sullivan has again predicted that one of the Premier League's big clubs will go out of existence after revealing to Soccernet that the Hammers were 10 days away from going into administration in January.

Sullivan and co-owner David Gold had to pump £20 million into the club four months ago to avoid going down the same troubled route of FA Cup finalists Portsmouth.

And they will have to make another £4 million available over the summer months to cover player wages when the club receive no matchday income.
Hull City
Hull City have denied reports they are considering going into administration, insisting "there are no plans or intentions to enter into any form of insolvency process".

Hull's relegation from the Premier League was all but confirmed with Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Sunderland and the drop in revenue will have a major impact on the club which is already £35 million in debt. However, the club are confident they will not be forced into administration.
Portsmouth
Portsmouth's creditors have been told that the total debt now stands at £138 million at a meeting at Fratton Park on Thursday.

It is just weeks since Portsmouth, in administration and relegated to the Championship, announced they owed £119 million. And the creditors were told that the total debt figure could still keep on rising.

It's such a tough position for these clubs, because not only are you competing against teams in your own league, but also with the rest of Europe, and if you're not one of the 10-12 elite teams in the world, you have the choice to either go into massive debt or not compete. The EPL needs to do a better job of policing its teams in financial matters. I thought they had rules in place as far as debt was concerned, but I may be just imagining that.

Disposable income is down worldwide and particularly in the UK. These teams contracted themselves out in a high stakes gamble that they would be able to get revenue from the additional dates. But they rolled snake eyes.

For as much as we hate revenue sharing, it has helped to avoid these types of disasters here.

You do if you are fans of a team that spends to be competitive ... not so much if you are in Pittsburgh or Miami where they spend as little as possible and pocket the money from others. It sucks and is socialist to an extent but it serves a purpose.

I lean libertarian in many political areas, but sports is not politics. Successful sport leagues have parity, and that's something that only revenue sharing and salary caps can create.

Put in the Revenue Sharing system of the MLB into the EPL while keeping the promotion/relegation system.
