Ex-Tar Heel Lebo takes reins at East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - New East Carolina coach Jeff Lebo is promising that the long-struggling men's basketball program can be successful with time.

The school held a news conference Tuesday afternoon for Lebo, the former Auburn coach who is taking over a program that hasn't had a winning season in 13 years. He'll work for athletics director Terry Holland, the former Virginia coach who tried to recruit Lebo as a college player only to see him choose to play for Dean Smith at North Carolina.

Lebo received a 6-year deal worth nearly $3.4 million, not counting performance and other incentives.

Anybody know if McKay (or RD) applied for the job?

I think Jeff will do a decent job at ECU. If he can keep them in the top half of the conference & challenge for a tournament spot every now & then, they should be doing cartwheels.
