Not to take this down a completely different road (although the jokes...so tired of Tiger jokes

)... One interesting thing has come up in all this. Just the over-exposure of athletes and celebrities in general.
Especially in the sports world -- i mean, 20, 30 years ago, shoot back in the 50s and 60s in baseball you think this type of stuff wasn't happening? Of course it was. There are a lot of Hall-of-Famers and the 'hero' types of the game that were known to either be stepping out or just living that single lifestyle. Obviously culturally those are two different things... But I guess to me it begs the question -- its only wrong when you get caught? Back in the day the media used to just cover it up, or rather not cover it... Because their job was to cover the sport and who cares what the guy is doing off the court/field/course.
And I've heard the same argument about tiger and the golf media. The Golf media (and most of the sports media in general) -- never snooped around this guy's personal life at all because they didn't care and they wanted him to do interviews etc. They only covered his game and what he showed of his personal side. Contrast that with many NFL/NBA/MLB players in big markets who in their local markets are just as 'big' but have local tabloids and sports media 'coming after them.'
I guess I'm just fascinated by the whole thing. I know its a different world now and our culture just eats this stuff up.... And i don't believe this argument at all but certainly from an 'american cultural norm' POV -- isn't this whole thing getting blown out of proportion? Again, not my perspective -- but.... I've heard that argument made and certainly see the merits when argued from certain perspective.
