You really puzzle me with your teams.... And who cares about winning ACC titles, Championships are the only thing that matter

You are 14. You are not a student at Duke. You are not a booster for Duke. Therefore Duke is not "we."

Let me rephrase that again: My favorite ACC team, Duke, just won their 3rd-straight ACC Tournamemt Championship by beating UNC!!!!!

(Is that better? :D )

I'm a lifelong Duke fan and I totally agree about the 'we,' thing. I can't stand when people call their favorite pro or college team regardless of sport 'we.' It's one thing to say 'we,' if you went to Liberty or whatever school. I don't say 'we,' with Liberty but that's just me, that's cool if other people want to do that. Just because you're a fan of a pro team or even if your dad and grandpa and his dad and grandpa were all fans of the same team, if you're not somehow directly affiliated with the franchise it in no way is 'we'.

I honestly don't have an idea to why I say "We". I'm so used to saying it because I say it all the time around my family. Also, as a cheerleader, I say "We won!" or "We lost!" when talking about a game. Maybe that's part of it. I dunno- :dontgetit. And I'm so used to saying "We" when Liberty plays. (My Mom and Aunt are both LU alumni.) It's just a habit.

Because you most likely identify yourself with the team, therefore since it's part of your identity, you say we.

I ran at LU back in the day, and I don't even really feel comfortable saying WE won our 14th BSC championship this year. Not the same thing by a long shot, but I wonder if SCAR considers himself a "we" when it comes to the basketball team.

I say we, but only for certain teams. I say it with Kentucky, but only because I am basically obsessed with Kentucky basketball 24/7. I do the same thing with LC athletics, specifically the mens basketball team since I worked with the team for four years and a lot of the guys on the team still associate me with the team. Basically, the more obsessed and/or involved I am with the team, the more likely I am to say we...

Duke has actually taken team pictures with their fans because they(the basketball team) consider the fans their sixth man. So if the Coach and players view it as "we", why shouldn't everyone else. The first time I was a part of it was Shane and Elton's freshman year. The picture still hangs in my parents' house.

However, I do feel that is simply personal preference and not a big deal either way.
