Robinho is one of my favorite young players out there.

I think the MLS is attractive to stars who are past their prime. It's a high level of play but not as demanding as the EPL or Spanish leagues. They realize how much money they can make in marketing in the US and still live in somewhat anonymity.

The problem is no real skills are being taught in soccer anymore. It's just a sport where parents drop their kids off, have an adult watch them kick a ball around for an hour and then everyone wins.

The US's apathy towards getting better in a lot of national sports are starting to catch up with us. In terms of soccer, in most countries, being able to play soccer is the only way out of the slums and out of despair. The same is becoming true with basketball (where we've been overtaken by smaller countries, because of our top players unwillingness to play) and baseball.
