I guess it pays off to beat UK, an OK richmond squad, a bible school, a D3 school, another non D1 school, a bunch of scrubs, and get waxed by one really poor team and one poor acc squad. of course the AP gave harvard one vote, i don't even know why the AP poll is even relevant anymore if someone thinks harvard is one of the best 25 in the country...

actually since they didn't get a vote last week, I'd say that 1 voter was extremely impressed by their wins over Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, and Coastal Carolina by a combined 8 point margin.

I suppose by your thinking, if they had strengthened their resume by beating an ODAC team, they would be a clear cut Top 25 team.

Actually, a lone vote is the equivalent of a Scar shoutout to FF on the Liberty Channel broadcast. It's impressive to the recipient but ignored by everyone else.

Yeah, the recipient is usually the guy who counts all of the "others receiving votes" ahead of them and then figures out that they're "ranked Xth team in the country!"

well, not going to lie, but Stevenson is 3-10 on the season and is in a mediocre at best basketball conference, 9 out of the 11 ODAC teams could beat them 95% of the time and the other two would give them a run for their money every game. VMI shouldn't have even scheduled a D3 team in the first place, but if they insisted on a D3, there are over 200 D3 teams that are better than stevenson.

here is my preliminary final thought on this issue: if VMI hadn't beaten Kentucky, would anyone other than big south and military school followers even let VMI cross their mind for one single millisecond? I have to say the answer would certifiably be no. They have beaten ONE team who might possibly get in the top 25 this year (Kentucky) and one decent mid major who is not going to be a threat to do much in the postseason (Richmond) and that's it. They have also barely squeaked by 7 teams who rank well below 200 in the pomeroy rankings and got taken out to the woodshed repeatedly bu jacksonville st. who ranks 184 by pomeroy. Top 25 teams don't squeak by these squads and most especially does NOT get treated like a ragdoll by a team of the caliber of jacksonville st.
