FSC Hires Ex-LCS Player as Coach

Two down, two to go.
Florida Southern filled its second opened position Wednesday hiring former Lakeland Christian player Ben Strawbridge as its women's soccer coach.
Strawbridge, 27, was an assistant women's coach at NCAA Division I Liberty University for the past four seasons.
"I'm thrilled to be a part of this program," he said in a release. "I am anxious to get started and look forward to working with the team this fall. It is a real blessing to get the opportunity to be in an occupation that you love and be in the same town where you grew up. How many people can say that?"
Strawbridge replaces Christine Rizzieri, who was relieved of her duties in January. The FSC soccer team had a 4-10-2 record in 2005.
Prior to his stint as an assistant, Strawbridge played professionally for the Richmond Kickers of the United Soccer League. Before that, he was a standout player at Liberty. He started all 67 games of his career as a defender and is the only player in school history to earn first-team All-Big South honors three straight seasons.
Strawbridge is married to Kristy, and have a fourmonth-old daughter, Aslyn.
FSC earlier hired men's basketball coach Linc Darner and is currently looking to fill the positions of women's basketball and swimming coaches.
