HMO - Just don't submit to the DNA test and the can't prove anything.
PA - Do you REALLY want ot use the word "late" when discussing the topic of children, SuperJohn and his Girl/boy/metro/friend??
As for the topic at hand, I have officially finished my mourning period. As a native Hoosier, I know what a great coach he was. Simply b/c every high school coach was so bad in trying to emulate him. I even have a personal Bob Knight story I will bore you with: We had just finished our traditional first round exit in the state play offs (remember we only had 1 class system) and had gotten beat rather badly. After I showered I went back into the arena to watch the next game. I sit in a row I thought was unoccupied when this voice says "Did you just get done playing son?" "Yes sir" I responded without looking up. "Keep your head up, and work hard over the summer and you'll be fine...............Of course it IS rather hard to keep your head up when you just got your A** whipped by 40 pts!!". I love that man!!
Why did he leave in the middle of the seaon?? It was a perfect move. Recruits would be rather leary of going to Tech b/c they wouldn't know how long he would be there. With his departure at this time, it give his son an opportunity to work on those recruits. Also, as has been mentioned, it gives Pat a real stress free environment to begin to put his stamp on this team. The announcers were even commenting at the first game how the practice the day before was entirely different then before. For example, look at IU's last final four team. There were upperclassmen who had LEARNED how to play the game but had no JOY in playing the game. In comes Mike Davis who let's them enjoy what they learned and we see how that worked out.
I thought it was a great move on Coach Knights part. But I will say be careful the next time he and Dick Chaney go hunting together!
