Tribune Co.'s new CEO Sam Zell said the Cubs will be sold by Opening Day, and that he may sell naming rights to Wrigley Field because such rights could be "extraordinarily valuable."

If you have ever been to Wrigley, you understand what a travesty it would be to change its name. It is classic baseball at its finest.

They'll probably try what they did at Mile High Stadium (because it works sooooo well), ie., Wrigley Field at Jimmy Dean Sausage Stadium.

Its gotten to the point where naming rights really aren't that big of a deal. Everyone will still call the place Wrigley Field (due to the chicle ties of years gone by which were one of the first commercializations of stadium names) no matter what they official name is now.

i'm a lifelong cubs fan...

wrigley field needs to be torn down....its one of the worst fields in baseball...

brewers at the cubs or cubs at the brewers?...hmm i'll take the latter...

i won't have crappy food, uncomfortable seats, and the possibility of concrete falling on my head to deal with...

here to hoping he builds a stadium out in the suburbs....2 hr drive and 5 dollar parking vs 3 and a half hour drive and 30 dollar parking...

I think the obvious choice would be to sell it to Wrigley's Spearmint Gum. It's a win-win.

That would make sense seeing as how the "Wrigley" in Wrigley field is also the Wrigley's Spearmint Gum guy.

I guess when you think about it, it was one of the first coorporate-sponsored major league ballparks, but I have one issue with the name change.... (I will call it Wrigley Field until they tear it down...or it falls down on its own.)

Anybody touches the sign and it's probably coming down on its own.
