some of the sentiments here really surprise me. now equating dogfighting to abortion?? it is obvious that if this dogfighting thing was me or any non-celebrity that it would be a non-issue but this is an NFL star and the feds wanted to make a point. the media of course jumped on this story for that reason. now if this helps in the case of stopping dogfighting then great. i still think many are not realizing that dogs are viewed differently than ten years ago. they are family to most, and that fact is widely proven by the booming pet industry. people need to just realize vick is a celebrity who committed a crime and is going to jail for it, and hopefully he will be a changed man when he gets out. he accepted full responsibility and is ready to face it head on. FSU, man you seem bitter. are we not told to be Christ-like?? we will never know if vick apologized because he got caught or if he really meant it. i am skeptical but he seemed sincere. i do not know enough about the gambling rules in the NFL to say anything about that, but i think setting up a ring and actually doing the gambling are different and he did not bet on the NFL so he says. as christians we are taught to forgive. it may take years to forget but i can forgive him. if he gets back in the league he will be playing for the league minimum and he will not have any endorsements IMO. so to close after he pays his debt to society, i think he should get the opportunity to start over, providing the rules on gambling in the NFL do not make him guilty.

I just wanted to start an argument. You know me.

I just think he had a night of "fun" with her, but a good argument gets me through classes.

I agree....even though what he admitted to is a terrible thing, its not the worst thing in the world...he didn't kill anybody or even get accused of killing anybody I can think of a certain Raven that can't say the same and is still playing....Vick did apologize...and I am over all of this...I don't think he should be banned for life...4 or 5 years maybe....but for life?? whatever...they were dogs people....people in asia eat dogs...

Did anybody see the 3 hour special on Vick last night on ESPN? They had the Falcons/Bengals game on in the background.

you crack me up    You should have been home all day like I am. I am so sick of seeing clips and hearing talk about him on every station that I could barely watch that game last night. Very good description though. Every time I did tune in they seemed to be talking about Vick. As far as him getting banned for life? I think that punishment is not close to fitting the crime. Why must everyone lose their jobs the second they do something wrong? I agree they should be punished but why not let them work in their chosen profession esp if he didn't gamble? Unless he bet on football I say, let the man work when he pays his debt. I didn't think Imus should have been fired either btw.

I agree im sick of it already.....i think Kornheiser tried to change the topic a few times by talking about all those "Johnson's" on the field but that was a game i really could have muted and not missed anything.

Personally, I think Vick should be suspended as long as he's in prison. After that, he's paid his debt. When he gets out, he should be able to get a shot just like anybody else. If a year+ of prison food and limited activity haven't robbed him of his physical abilities, I don't care if he plays in the NFL again.

The AFC North is a strange place. There are 5 or 6 Johnsons on the Bengals, the Ravens used to have 4 or 5 Lewises on the team, and the Browns had 3 guys named Andre Davis.

Okay maybe I misstated that I dont think dog killing and abortion are along the same line at all Im saying look at the public reaction between the two. Dog fighting gets national attention? Fact is there are much worse things that people do that gets no attention whatsoever. It is just intresting how Mike Vick has been thrown under the bus when there are much worse things out there then running a business that kills dogs.

Michael Vick is a public figure. He didn't have to be. He chose a profession that incorporates tons of media attention and he knew this going in. He's reaped the rewards of it by getting paid much more than most of us combined. Now, by committing a crime, no matter how small or large, he's getting destroyed in the media, it's part of the job. He could have sat here in an office and gotten arrested for dogfighting, and there would be no attention, but he also wouldn't have made millions on top of millions either, benefitting from it.

To those who watched his apology, I didn't think it was sincere at all. He looked like he was going from memory on what he was coached on. I didn't buy it all. Of course, I also have recently watched another public figure give a courtroom apology that I felt was completely sincere, as a local tv reporter down here drunkenly killed a pedestrian while driving. I'm not saying Vick should cry over what he did, but I didn't see any remorse from him beyond a this sucks I'm going to jail mentality.

Tolly Carr's apology was completely 100% sincere.

Back to Vick.
