Jackson second at Jerome

June 24, 2008

White Rock Christian Academy midde-distance runner Spencer Jackson’s second-place finish was the high water mark for Peninsula athletes at the Harry Jerome Track Classic – a meet that saw a total of six locals snag top five placings.

Jackson’s silver medal at the prestigious Vancouver meet came in the 1,500 m race in the boys’ high school division.

Jackson crossed the finish line in four minutes and 8.7 seconds – three seconds behind winner Ahmed Mohamed of Fleetwood Park.

The silver medal run was the capper off a great week for Jackson, who earlier signed a letter of intent to run next season at Liberty University – an NCAA Div. 1 school in Virginia. In the same event, Jackson’s WRCA teammate, Carl Johnston, placed fifth.

Oh, boy. Another Canadian. Wait, there may only be one other person on here who understands the humor in Canadian distance runners at LU...

Looks like the kid has potential. Glad to have him aboard.
