Some seemed to wonder why Nicki was playing libero at VCU. The shoulder she injured in high school was giving her grief again this spring. She has had an MRI and it shows nothing torn (PTL). She is undergoing physical therapy and will not be hitting for the rest of the spring. The rest from hitting has been helpful. She will be playing libero for the rest of the spring. She did tell me that it is really helping her defensively. Hopefully no surgery will be needed to correct the problem.
Nic is a fantastic athlete, and she can play every position on the court. Her front row play gives Liberty both points off of hits and blocks. Her digs and clean passing also lead to points. Bottom line - we're a better team with her on the court.

I don't think there is any doubt about that, but I sure hope she can return to being a hitter! I'm sure the experience of playing libero will make her a better all-around player down the road.
