GO FLAMES...I wonder, counting spring matches, how many straight we've won against the Highlanders?
Won the 2nd game!

We won the second game 27/25. Coach is playing the bench, and putting girls in diffrent positions.
Note: The NCAA changed the scoring system after last season - games in 2008 will only go to 25, and/or win by two points without a limit. A match is still won with a best of five games system.
In this off-season tourney at VT the format is best of three, with new 25 point scoring rule.
So, our 2nd game went into "extra points" and won. This continutes to be a distinguishing characteristic of our team... the girls and coaches know how to find points at the end of games.
Next match will be played against James Madison University.
GO LIBERTY!!!

Thanks for the updates. Anytime we beat Radford in anything it is a good thing.

We beat Eastern Tennessee in two 25/18, 25/13. This was a school that had a long winning streak last season until we beat them in their gym. They are a good program.
VT takes two from us

A Split To End the Day

LU ended the day with a split. James Madison University took the first game 23/25, and we took the second 25/17.
From court-side accounts, a good day for the team. According to observers, had we played VT in the morning, we would have beat them.
Go Liberty!!!

ETSU and JMU are good teams...ETSU is always at or near the top of the Atlantic Sun conference and JMU has always been difficult. VT just seems to have Liberty's number in a bunch of sports unfortunately.

We played 4 teams 2 games each. Of the 8 games, we won 5. Coupled with the UVA match where we had 8 games against them and went 4-4, out games total so far is 9-7. What I saw at both tournaments is that when we are focused and communicate well we can beat just about anybody. The girls played like a machine in several of the games at tech, but they were inconsistent in some of the games and it cost them. They should have beaten every team there, but I think they got a little physically and mentally fatigued. JMU was missing their big girl who graduates this year, and they really didn't have the talent we had, but I think the girls were tired after getting up at 5 in the morning. JMU owned us in game 1. In game 2, you could tell that our girls were not going to leave on a loss, and they destroyed JMU. I think winning 5 out of 8 games with one of your leading hittters playing libero for 6 of the 8 games because of a shoulder problem. We have a lot of potential for next year as long as the girls stay motivated.
