ASHEVILLE – Jordan Woody never was happier about a tie.

Woody, 18, plays for the Western Carolina Athletic Association Trailblazers home-schooled girls soccer team. And it was her goal that gave the Trailblazers a 1-1 tie against NCHSAA 3-A Enka High last Monday — in just the second game in program history.

They played to a tie with a goalie who is only 13 years old?
Autumn Mullins, 13, finished with eight saves. She credits the fingertip save in large part to a pregame crash course with Maggie Woody, who was in town from Liberty University. Mullins also said she’s optimistic about the future of home school athletics.
