grm asked for it and I am starting it.

Let's keep it as civil as possible and no personal attacks on character. Let the facts speak for themselves.

I think it's headed in the right direction. PERIOD!

Politics are bad, christian politics are WORSE, so lets keep the politics out and focus on the results. ...that is all.

That's naive. Politics will always exist among an administration of any kind. The key is to use them to your own benefit as much as possible.

And, I think the current athletic administration has done a greater job than any previous one of ingratiating itself with the highest university administrators in order to get money raised and things done. Kudos to them...

oh no... this former Liberty person is CERTAINLY NOT naive about politics at Liberty. oh no, i understand them QUITE well.

however, there is more truth than you know in your quote... sad, but true...

"it is more blessed to give than to receive..." unless of course they are in your way in which case you simply stab them in the back and climb over them... I swear it's in the employee handbook... :vomit

Here is where I stand.

It's not the name on the back of the uniform.

It's not the name of the coach on the sideline.

It's the name on the FRONT of the uniform.

Kevin Love's uncle has the right idea.

I have no problem with someone disagreeing with a decision. I do have a problem where "loyalty" to people who no longer work for LU supercedes loyalty to our teams. I do have a problem with selective memory and revisionist history, and the cynical elevating of expectations to raise the "standard of failure".

I am very pleased with the general excitement about LU athletics right now, and I think we have an awesome collection of coaches, both new and "old". Specific criticisms are fine IMHO, but our new coaches deserve a reasonable opportunity to bring in their recruits and coach them for at least a couple of years before we start "throwing them under the bus."

I think that the last 2 years have brought about some positive changes within the athletic department and most of it started with the hiring of Jeff Barber to replace what we had in there. He has made some great although somewhat contrivercial hirings and brought in some head coaches with more credentials than what was already there. Numerous facility upgrades have taken place and the level of exitement at the games are said to be much better.

Success on the playing field has improved wth some of the coaches coming in and therefore better recruiting but I expect it to get much better in the near future as a result of all of the improvements. The main problem areas that I see are of course our conference affiliation and some of the scheduling as a result of that. Hopefully the athletic administration will make the proper move here with the future in mind so we can continue to improve athletically and become more visible on the national scene. This all just takes time but hopefully the administration will continue to make the proper decisions.

olldflame and Stevev have scored the Correct...

the support is for the team on the front of the uniform. if you want to support current or former coaches, go get stuff made with THEIR name on it.

i think the athletic dept. IS DEFINITELY headed in the right direction. frankly, the Big South is WAY too soft for where our programs need to be headed. a new conf. is IMPERATIVE! lets put it this way... ACC/Big East/Big 10/Big 12/SEC or the Big South... hmm... thats a real hard choice for top level recruits. We need to step up the Conf. competition to step up our performance and recruiting capabilities.

Let's be real, our WBB team has won 11/12 conf. titles... Men's Track has never lost. Women's Track has only very recently lost to Coastal in the past 4 or 5 years.

Football, and MAYBE men's basketball (chances: slim) will be the only two sports that EVER necessitate such a change in conference membership

Not scholarship, so there's no point in talking about them in the aspect of LU athletics. It'd have to be soccer.

I hate to tell you but I don't think the Shorter deal is going to happen. Maybe you should go back to your rap career.

I think we let Rocco continue to do his thing and the other sports will follow. I think as a whole we are doing great - Can one University truly excel at every sport? What school is like that?
