The LU team opened regional play with four wins on Friday night at the Region 5 tournament in Blacksburg, defeating Wofford, Davidson, Longwood, and Roanoke College. The highlight of the evening was the Liberty foursome coming back from a 165 point deficit to defeat Davidson 290-270 in a proverbial buzzer-beater. The team received solid performances from all five players who rotated in during the 4 games.
LU returns to action on Day Two of the tournament with 10 more games over a 5 hour period starting at 9 AM, highlighted with a 10 AM match with perennial power VA Tech, and a 11 AM match against William and Mary, which defeated Tech Friday night.
Following the 14 game round-robin preliminaries, the top 4 teams advance to a Double-Elimination Championship round to see who will advance to the College Bowl nationals to be held the end of April in Minneapolis.
