In effort to recognize those who work to further the sport of volleyball, especially at the collegiate level, CVU.com is pleased to announce the recipients of the third RESPecting Volleyball award.

This season, a conference SID and three university SID have been selected for the RESPecting Volleyball (Recognition for Excellence in Supporting and Promoting Volleyball) honor.

CVU is pleased to select Paul Carmany of Liberty University, Kevin O'Connor of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, LSU's Melissa Foley and Jessica Siegel of the Patriot League for the 2007 RESPecting Volleyball award.

Paul Carmany, Liberty

With Liberty picking up its first Big South title since 2001 and coming off its most wins ever, Paul Carmany is working to get the word out.

Not only is he accessible in dealing with requests, but is willing to take the time to discuss the Liberty team and players. He has also worked to on other levels to promote the team.

"One of the biggest recruiting tools that we have is our web site. To have a Sports Information Director of Paul's caliber working for our volleyball program and University is an honor," said Flames head coach Shane Pinder. "There are a lot of characteristics that make Paul great at what he does, but the one that makes him so special in my opinion, is his passion for Liberty athletics. I believe Paul is one of the top SID's in the nation, if not the top."

One of the best things in life is when something great happens to a very good person. I absolutely believe Paul is one of the best in his profession, and to see him get this recognition makes my day!!!

Paul, your a talented man who is doing a good work for a special university. Thank you for all the big and small things you do for the volleyball team.

Go Liberty!!!

PS - Paul, you need to cover the Olympic Trials (track & field) this summer at the University of Oregon. We have a guest room waiting for you here in Beaverton, Oregon. It will be great!!!

Good to see the SID get some appreciation...they are often some of the most overlooked and underappreciated staff of any athletic department.
