Athletics Department Honors Student-Athlete Academic Excellence At Banquet
April 24, 2006 · Lynchburg, Va.

The Liberty University Athletics Department will be honoring 176 student-athletes this evening at the third annual Athletics Academic Awards Banquet, which is being held in one of the banquet rooms at the Kirkly Hotel in Lynchburg.

The 176 student-athletes invited to the annual event were extended an invitation from the Liberty University Athletics Academic Services Office based upon their academic progress in the classroom, with each having a cumulative 3.0 or better GPA.

Among the 176 student-athletes are 14 individuals who have been named to a Big South all-academic team, including two Big South Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Of the 176 student-athletes, 11 student-athletes have a 4.0 cumulative GPA, 28 student-athletes have a 3.75 GPA and 42 have a 3.50 GPA or better with both groups earning Dean’s List honors. Rounding out the group, 95 student-athletes have a 3.0 or better GPA and will be named to this year’s Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll.
