I think it is great that our team is getting noticed. I think it will help with preseason rankings and could lead to better seeding in the NCAAs if we do our job next year to return.

I don't think we've ever had that many honorees in volleyball before. Then again we've never been this good before. Congrats to Coach Pinder and all of the ladies.

What makes it even better is that the 3 players honored have a combined total of 7 years of eligibility remaining!!

Congrats to coach Pinder, Chelaine, Nicki, and Kallie for a year of great stats and outstanding plays.

The honor is all the more special when you think that other coaches and information directors from around the state saw something special in each of you.

I agree with ATrain, Matshark, Oldflame, Grm, and Vadim... this year is simply an introduction to greater things to come.

Here are my 2008 predictions:
1. Average attendance will be over 1,000 per game. For big games 1,700. Volleyball will become a point of pride with the student body.
2. Some creative students are going to come up with some unique fan traditions that makes it extra fun to attend games. Like a specific yell or chant after: a dig, a block, a kill, a service ace, etc..
3. A high-energy rock band will be formed and play at each game. They'll call themselves Matchpoint, Sideout, or The Pinders.
4. Coach Pinder will have another freshman class full of talent.
5. The team will continue to win close games due to defense, smart late-game volleyball, and unity.
6. The team will become knows for its unpredictable offense (kills coming from the left, middle, and back row).
7. The team will will upset a big-name school at a tournament.
6. The team will win the Big South Championship Tournament.
7. The team will travel out of the region to play a less difficult team in the 1st round (not a #8 Cal.) and win it!

Go Liberty Volleyball!!!

Question...have we ever had a VaSID coach of the year? I'm sure some players have been recognized but I'm unsure about the coaching side of it

As far as I know, not since we've been Division I. And great predictions Gymtalk...hopefully I'll be able to get to more games next season.

I need to correct point #6.

In my earlier post of predictions, I talked about having a lot of options at the net (point #6). In my rush, I forgot to type the word "right" to the list of offensive options... my bad! As everyone knows, we're going to be strong on the left, middle, right and back row!

Go Liberty!
