Looks like LU will take the Cup this year with the strong performance this Fall, as long as our other teams this winter and spring don't fall apart we should be good!

Don't you mean....SASSER Cup?
Yes...it is a good start...but it is a long ways to go. Coastal always is very strong in the Spring sports...and tennis traditionally has not gotten us many points at all.

Count on all 6 championships from the guys and girls in running shorts.

LU has a chance to win 5 of the 6 fall sports championships (the one not going back to the Burg being women's soccer)
Looking at the Winter sports LU has a good chance to sweep indoor track...hoops is going to be a big determining factor. FR makes a good point about the Spring sports as well

my understanding is that its been "re-weighted" due to the fact that only half our conf plays FB, but I STILL don't understand how they arrive at those figures

PS: VMI complaining that the BSOUTH has "obviously drug down the level of all our sports teams"
oh- THAT's why you're not competetive in the "Big Suck", the CONFERENCE is dragging you down. GOT IT.

I'm not sure how the scoring has changed in the last few years, but Coastal Carolina usually does as well in the spring sports as we do in the fall...

I don't think they'll be able to catch us. Don't foget we still have Track & Field.

I think a first in men's T&F and no worse than a second in women's will put us over the top, even if Coastal dominates other Spring sports.

The beach chickens have a women's golf team.

Actually, it looks like CCU would have won, even if the women's golf team didn't help their average.
In an unrelated story, i like how Liberty's championship win in football was worth only 9 points -- bringing our average down -- and yet a women's golf win is worth 12 points.

Its b/c there are more women's golf teams. The more teams there are, the more points its worth...at least thats how I think it goes.

You'd think that a first place finish for any sport would be worth the same amount of points, and then they'd divide downwards -- like if there were 10 teams, first place would get 10, second, 9, third, 8, et cetera... And then if there were only five teams, first place would still get 10, second would get 8, third 6...
But then again, that makes sense, so the Big South wouldn't go for that.
