Shane Pinder Coach of the Year? Kallie Corbin POY?

Looking at the standings, outcomes and the rest of the league, I dont think there is any way he doesnt get coach of the year.
1. With a win tomorrow night we finish the season #1
2. Having a young team as LU does you get a lot of respect from your peers
3. Knocking off a WU team that hasnt lost since 2003
4. The impressive streak that took place this season
I'm sure there are plenty more reasons but I'll stop with that...about the only other team that may be deserving would be High Point since they bounced back fairly well this year...but thats a LONNNNNNG shot
I originally thought that this was voted after the tourny but it's actually presented this Wednesday so that would be before the tourny...a win tomorrow would help seal the deal
Is this voted on by the Coach's or strictly Big South?
I wanted to see what yall thought

If its like most awards, I please it is a combination of the coaches and AMR/SID staffs.

Huh? maybe I missed something. Do we get a vote?
Seriously, I think this is one choice so obvious even the BSC "haters" will have to see it.

He definitely deserves it with how far he has taken a young team this year. Good job Coach.

I don't see how anyone else could get it....

Eagle Fan: You've always had a pretty good unbiased opinion...I'm not even sure how much you follow volleyball...but do you see the Player of the Year award going to Stiz? or someone else. if there was any year a setter deserved it I believe Kal deserves it this year but she is a setter and you NEVER see them get that award, it's kinda like a PG getting it in the NBA until Nash made it normal getting it like 200 times.
She does have a National Player of the Week honor which should help.....this actually intrigues me more than Coach of the Year (b/c I think that's a lock)

I follow volleyball as much as I can, though I can honestly say I know quite a bit about WU, but not a whole lot about anyone else. Sitzmann is definitely one of the favorites, as is Corbin. It'll be tough for a setter to win it, especially when there is a middle-blocker that leads the league in kills & blocks per game and is 3rd in hitting %. I'd probably say Sitzmann is the slight favorite, but if a setter is ever going to get it, Corbin definitely seems to have a decent chance.
So in other words, I have no idea...

I'm with you...I'm in between, I think if they were to wait until after BS tourny it would be whoever ended up finishing better....but I really dont know

Yeah, its honestly a toss-up...Sitzmann has more Big South POW honors (4) than Corbin (3), and a setter getting POY honors is pretty much unheard of in this conference...I say since Sitz is a senior and currently leads in kills and blocks, she is a slight favorite but Kallie does have a good shot at it.

One honor Kallie has won which sets her apart is the national player of the week. Unless I'm mistaken, she was the first BSC volleyballer to ever win it.

you are correct although then you put into play that she plays a position that is often over looked and never appreciated...for whatever reason they think these girls like Nic and company could put up the same numbers with just a average setter....not the case although they'll still put up good numbers, just not the same
I just dont see it happening b/c I dont think there is ANY way the BS allows us to get a Coach of the Year and Player of th Year...maybe I have no confidence in the BS but they havent given me a reason to have confidence up until this point....as far as LU is concerned

corbin should win it because she's that good. and on top of that... she's very good looking!

Proud, very proud!!!

When you look at all that Kallie does, I think she should get the nod over Sitzman. Kallie not only sets tremendously well, she also blocks, digs and hits better than any other setter and lots of other hitters in the league. She is certainly more critical to the offense and overall play of the team that is seeded number one for the tourney than Sitz is to the number 2 seeded team. Winthrop continued to win without Sitzman in the lineup. I'm not sure we could say the same would happen if Kallie was out of the Liberty lineup. I know I am biased, but I believe if you look at it objectively, you should see Pinder as Coach of the Year, Corbin as Player of the year and Scripko as Fresman of the Year. It has been that kind of year for Liberty.

I think Scripko definitely has Freshman of the Year locked up.

I forgot to mention that part as well....Nic has FOY locked up...so that would make LU 3 for 3 for the awards....that's a tough thing to do!

Sitzmann is only a junior (this is her fourth year, but she redshirted her second year due to injury)...
