We jumped out on top of Davidson 5-2 in the first quarter and led 8-7 at half. The score was tied 9-9 at the end of 3. Early in the 4th quarter we were called for an illegal stick and Davidson capitalized on it providing the final margin of 12-9.
Only 14 guys made the App. State game. We led 6-5 at half but had a slashing call at the end of the half so we started the third quarter a man down. App. State scored a goal to tie the score. A few minutes later we scored a goal and then got called for an illegal stick so instead of going up 7-6 the score was still tied and we were a man down for 3 minutes. App. State scored 2 during the penalty and it seemd to deflate the team. We were down 15-8 with about 8 minutes left when we started to come back. Our face-off man was winning every face-off and we scored 3 unanswered goals. We just ran out of time.
I was proud of the way our guys didn't quit and fought back. They could have packed it in at 15-8. This weekend one of our freshman attack man Bill Taggart, from Princeton, NJ and Ryan Eglseder, a midfielder from Maryland, had breakout games. Bill had two goals against Davidson and added anotehr against App. State. Egy had two goals yesterday against App. State. Our goalie, Justin Kilian, a freshman, had 30 saves against Davidson and another 23 against App. State. The team has been led all year by freshman attackman Adam Ungaro, who has 16 goals and 15 assists.
