Just want to add a little perspective on this weekend...

Those who may not follow LU volleyball like some in this forum may think that this weekends games were roll overs....
Chuck South is a VERY tough place to play. You heard the things they were yelling to our players and all the other stuff they did. WU was LUCKY to get out of there with a win...they won in 5 games...while our girls beat them in 3...WU went 4 games with CCU while our girls did it in 3.
Also, if you look at the numbers each night during this weekend one of our key players has had an off night (not playing like they normally have) yet we've still managed to come away with 2 more sweeps to add to the streak. This shows our great depth and how players are stepping up when they are called upon (biggest right now is Al coming off the bench and playing HUGE)
I'm not even going to start to try and do the research on when the last time a LU team has done all of this but I promise you it's been a LONG time since they've swept 7 in a row if ever at all
All of this is good and well but we need to set our focus on knocking off WU and their streak and also following it up with a win...when it matters most BS tourny! I hope they think we'll roll over since they beat us last time...that'll be their mistake

These girls deserve to have a buzz around campus about them. Volleyball is never going to match football or mens hoops for attention. But they certainly deserve for the student body to recognize this amazing run.
Bring on Winthrop at our house!

They may not get the pub these other sports are getting but I can promise anyone if they come out and watch this WU match it will be just as entertaining if not more so! These girls do things that our male student body only dream they could do!

Volleyball, more than any other major sport, may require the most teamwork in order to achieve victory. Think about it for a minute. It requires you to score a specified number of points to win. Football, baseball, softball, hockey, and basketball don't. One player can dominate in the other sports and carry a team, but it is much more difficult for one player to do that in volleyball. Most often, it takes a combination of plays (pass, set, kill) to complete a point. That definitely requires coordinated play all the time. I realize the other sports require coordination as well, but with the speed that the ball can go back and forth over the net, volleyball calls for consistent and quick communication and team effort to produce victory.
All that is to say that it really makes volleyball a terrifically enjoyable sport to watch. I hope a ton of people come to watch when we play WU on Saturday and make plenty of noise for the Flames.

I will be there Friday night and Saturday night. HPU on Friday then WU. I hope we don't look past HPU. Am I really posting in the Volleyball forum? Aly Sanders is my friend

I am glad she is playing well. Her dad is a former flame that I hope will be at the hoops alumni game this weekend. See I couldn't post here without at least mentioning basketball.

I disagree...in team tennis competition, there is absolutely NO WAY one player can carry a team.
But thats not the issue here...these vball girls are on an amazing run, and now is our greatest shot in a while to knock off the Big South's most dominant team of late. GO LU!!!

FlameDad added hockey to my list of sports that attract the most attention on campus. And he had a valid point.

HMO is assessed a 2-minute minor for not paying attention.
Where is the penalty box emoticon when you need it?
