Looks like Presbyterian is vulnerable in the middle. The big HP middle scored 23 kills on them. Anybody know anything different?

Presbyterian should not pose too much of a problem...they are transitioning from DII so we should be able to take this match easily provided we play like we have been.

Actually PC has been a big surprise in their transition year. they have some talent and had an incredibly long streak of winning games the last time I checked that could still be intact for all I know. But I am too lazy to check this morning.

they got off to a good start, and in fact - beat UNCA, Chuck South and Coastal convincingly, losing only 2 games total to all 3.
then they ran into Winthrop, HPU, and GW- and only WON 2 games total against all 3.

they now have 4 straight conf matchups vs us, Radford, HPU, and WU again.

After seeing the team play in person last weekend and witness the 3-0 victories against Charleston and Coastal, I was very impressed with the teams overall improvement. I also noticed a huge improvement on defense. The back row players were taking care of business. Add that to the fact that PC has struggled since losing their team Captain and have lost their last three, I see a win for the Flames on Friday.

A side note on future recruits. I met a recruit last week in the Vines that was here on an official visit. She is another quality prospect from here in San Diego. She will be another great addition to the team if she signs.

On another subject............I had a conversation with Coach Pinder last week regarding access to action photos taken courtside during the games. I asked him if he could talk to the Liberty photographers to see if team parents could get access to the photos and purchase them. He said he would look into it and possibly have an answer for us by parents weekend. I had a look at some of the shots taken during the game and there were some great photos taken.

FSN does a nice job but he hasn't posted any Vball pics yet this season. Perhaps if you PMed him he might be able to look for somebody in particular when he's taking the shots.

Glad to hear the eyewitness report on the team's progress. I look forward to seeing them in action soon and taking in their victory over WU. Color me optimistic once again. 8)

We talked to Paul Carmany early in the season about being able to buy pics from the games. He said they were working on a vehicle to make that possible. Haven't talked to him lately however.

If it's been like 5 years since we've beat back to back Conf opponents 3-0 I can only imagine how long it's been since we've done this

Since 03 according to Coach Pinder in that sound bite yesterday and I thin this is the first time we have ever swept 3 n a row in conference home or away

For the record Nicki Scripko has arrived...she's a monster out there guys, and worth watching you guys have 4 years to catch her but I wouldnt wait...we're now starting to see why she was the first Flame to be rated in the top 100 in HS

Also she's always got that sweet smile on her face, I was at practice and she was getting corrected on something (very sternly :D ) and she still had the smile then even when she looked like she may totally lose it! Great girl...great player!

I love the way the team is playing… scrappy, creative, relaxed, focused, positive, and happy. I see another win on Sunday!

Off topic, but worth noting for the record… Liberty has two players that made the prepvolleyball.com list - Nicki Scripko and Kallie Corbin.

Prepvolleyball.com makes four lists a year. They research and post the top players in the nation by class (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior). I believe each class lists is now 150 names long, but back in 2003 the lists had clever names and were much shorter. On the list called, “Super Seventy Sophomores” you will find Kallie Corbin’s name. That year she played in southern California and was the setter for a 6A high school that won their conference and went deep into the state playoffs (she becoming the conference Player of the Year). She then led her L.A. based club team to a third place finish in the Southern California Volleyball Association tournament. After that great year, she returned to Oregon and played for an average high school team and club program. As a result, she did not make the prepvolleyball.com list as a junior or senior.

Kallie would never tell you that, but as her father I share it with a great deal of pride.

That game was so much fun to watch. The thing that impressed me most was how the girls didn't let up when it was clear we were dominant. It looked as if they would just not allow any ball to hit the floor on their side of the net. They showed the most intensity on defense that I have seen this year. Props to Chelaine this year. She has been the most consistent attacker all year. I feel really good each time I see a play developing where she gets the attack opportunity. I feel like I'll soon hear the announcer say "Point Liberty."

We are definitely proud of Nicki, but all of the girls have been doing great. Allison has been playing well all year, and GREAT over the last few matches. Did you notice that .750 kill percentage on her 21st birthday? And Kallie hitting that 2,000 assist mark last night was fantastic. Watching Kallie set last year really helped Nicki decide to come to Liberty. The other thing that sealed the deal was how great all the ladies on the team are and how loving and supportive of each other they are.

What a great place for volleyball!

you were right about Allison, she had a HUGE game

As far as Chelaine goes I've learned that she's going to put up her #'s...you can go into a game and already know she's going to block the middle and come away with 12-17 kills a game...she's been consistent all year long.

Speaking of Prepvolleyball.com mentions. Sam Melton, who is coming to visit this weekend was listed as one of the sophomores to watch last year.

Sweep Celebration – Sanders Enjoys Lady Flames’ Victory over Presbyterian

Alysson Sanders hit .750 in Liberty's 3-0 win on her birthday.
October 12, 2007
Lynchburg, Va.

Liberty redshirt junior outside hitter Alysson Sanders made sure her birthday would be an enjoyable one. She was one of three Lady Flames to hit .591 or better, Friday night at the Vines Center, sparking Liberty to a 3-0 (30-19, 30-17, 30-15) sweep of Presbyterian.
