Karyl Bacon named BS Freshman of Week

Liberty outside hitter/defensive specialist Karyl Bacon picked up the second award of her young career today. An all-tournament team member after leading the Lady Flames to a 2-1 record at the Liberty Invitational Presented by Pepsi, Bacon has been named the Big South New Balance Freshman of the Week.

Oh yeah she does...she nearly got 20 kills in one of thematches this past weekend, and probalby would have gotten 20 against Howard if Coach Pinder had not removed many of the starters when it was clear that LU was absolutely dominating Howard. He was right when he said that she (Karyl) could be something really special. She did have some interesting things to say about transitioning from high school volleyball to the college game when I talked to her after the win over Duquesne.

Karyl is special indeed. Besides her great game skills, she is just a great person. I'm glad she decided to come to Liberty.

What do yall think...not a bad first 3 games for her? Lead the entire tourny in Kills and Digs...I'll take that from my 5'6" DS any day
(even though I think she's honestly 5'5" and thats being nice)
