Liberty decathlete earns All-American status
John Morris, a rising junior at Liberty Christian Academy, had an auspicious debut in the 17-18-year-old division of the U.S. National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships this week in Walnut, Calif.
The Philadelphia native whose family relocated to Lynchburg to prepare him for Liberty University, scored 6,001 points on Tuesday and Wednesday to place eighth out of 23 competitors in the decathlon, becoming the first LCA athlete to earn All-America status.
