Food for Thought
Aside from the High School invitationals,
Has either program implemented any running clinics or summer running camps for the local high school athletes? Camps for Statewide/Mid-Atlantic Region runners (Running camps are a huge part of the yearly training regimen of serious high school runners in New England. When I lived in VA in high school, they were not really on any radar of any runners I knew.)
Do any of the current stable of runners make appearances in the local schools/community like the football team was doing a while back?
It seems like it would be a beneficial thing if LU were to put on some running clinics and such for the central Virginia region, maybe like the LU Central Virginia Running Clinic Series or something.
How much of a hotbed of running talent is the Central Virginia region? With the challenging training terrain, it would seem it should produce some decent runners out the high school programs in the region.
