This might be the most track athletes LU has ever sent to the national meet. Congratuations to the track teams for a significant achievement.

It is the most. This year will be exciting, but next year should be REALLY good! All 5 of the qualifiers are juniors. That doesn't include Jordan McDougal who just missed out this year.

Most of it is covered by the NONE network.
CBS has the rights to the event, but they usually only cover the sprints and the mile. I hope they at least mention the 5,000, the 10,000, and the Decathlon.

CBS will have live coverage at 1:00 on Saturday.

Deca update: Brandon placed 4th in the 100m and 12th in the long jump.

For the record, I am also watching freshman Michael Morrison of Florida in the Decathlon. I coached him in middle and high school. Not doing too badly right now...

Josh was fortunate to get into an easy heat last night. He placed fourth in his heat in an "easy" 14:31 to grab a spot in Friday's final. The other heat took it out, with Wisconsin's Chris Solinsky winning in 13:56. The last qualifier in the second heat had to run 14:00.

This is great news for Josh! He didn't have to run hard last night and can now feel totally prepared for the 10,000 final tonight and the 5,000 final on Friday.

Excellent first day by Clendon. 3rd best throw of the qualifiers in the discus and a personal best by over 7 feet. That's a huge increase. Surprised Jon didn't make the finals. He had been throwing so well. Had an off day I guess.

This is a nice screenshot:

Heartbreaking 3 seconds...what a great show...maybe now he'll finally get the respect he deserves among all the little running critics.

With a slower race tonight, that may help him for his 5,000 race. I hope he does extremely well in that also...the fact that he is doubling those two distances in the National Meet is what has a lot of people talking.

Beaten by a Shadrack! Also noticed the 2 in front of him are Juniors as well.

Considering he had the 5000 the next night, which is probably his better event, this couldn't have turned out much better. A podium finish at a relatively pedestrian pace which, considering Josh's renowned recouperative powers, should set him up nicely for tonight. I have a really good feeling about his chances to win the 5000.

Thanks...the coverage runs to 11 PM, Eastern. Perhaps the 5000 is the day's finale.

uhhh, did anybody else just watch that? Dude just got killed. It wasn't even a competative race with 2 laps to go. 1 more year for Josh to win a championship.

Josh scores another All-American award, but comes up short of his national title. 4th place in a pretty fast race for a championship. I bet he is going to request to deliver Chris Solinsky's college diploma himself!

2 Bobby Curtis JR Villanova 13:39.88 8
3 Wesley Korir JR Louisville 13:40.47 6

Whoa, buddy! "Dude just got killed"??? Maybe "Dudes just got killed" would have worked better. Solinsky destroyed the field with his move at 1,000 to go. They could hardly believe he would move that far from home. No way you can say that Josh got killed. Chris was better than everyone on this day.

yes they all got killed, our guy included. But I don't care about those other guys.

by the way, first time I've ever seen a Steeple Chase. I kept thinking they forgot their horses.

One has to wonder if his ambitious double which earned him two All-American nods may have kept him from his elusive national championship.

The crazy thing is that Josh was right in the mix at the front in both races with the fastest Collegians on back to back to back nights...even for the critics who will contend that his collegiate career is not validated because of no National Title yet, one has to recognize the amazing ability to recover and run all those races on consecutive days and earn a podium spot one night and the podium minus one spot the next all while scoring 11 points for your team...the guys fitness is just top-notch.

That's just flat-out sick; Individual National Title or not.
