Track Forum Petition

Okay, so here's my proposal... If Josh wins a national championship OR places in the top 5 of both the 5,000 and 10,000 this week at nationals, the most successful team on the mountain finally gets its own forum.

What happens if a big-time recruit ends up on this site after a search engine hit and finds that our Josh McDougal postings are mixed in with cheerleading and marching band? That's probably not how we want to sell the team that has a chance to crack the top 5 in the nation next year.

Feel free to argue why track/xc shouldn't take the place of the now-defunct lax team... I'm in the debating mood. 8)

traffic, traffic, traffic.

(as opposed to location, location, location)

only a handful of us on here regularly

but hey- start avg 100 posts a month and you may actually win us over!

I wouldn't rule it out. But medic is correct that we need more traffic beyond the handful of posters. Of course if Josh were to start posting here once again I think I could be swayed.

We've been open a total of 17 full months.

Football: 960/month
Basketball: 1268/month
Women's basketball: 226/month
Baseball: 193/month
Softball: 57/month
Soccer: 23/month
Volleyball: 34/month
Hockey: 72/month
Wrestling: 14/month

Looks like softball, soccer, volleyball, hockey, and wrestling don't need their own forum.

If those are the real numbers, thats a valid point... Then again its usually what people know about and where all the drama is haha

Countdown to medic's explosion at the shot at his beloved wrestling forum is underway.

Thanks for the support, SJ! I started counting posts, but got tired of it. I appreciate the leg-work.

Also, wouldn't it stand to reason that there would be more traffic (at least a little) if track had its own forum instead of being lumped in with other sports? I certainly would be more apt to post if I knew the info wouldn't be burried under "what uniforms should the cheerleaders wear for this game?" or something dumb like that.

For crying out loud..we have 5 athletes competing at the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. IF you guys can't get behind that, we have a problem! (Remind me how many golfers and wrestlers were there this year.)

LU grad beat me to a point I wanted to make, so I will just second the feeling that being lumped in the "other" category like the professor and Mary Ann in the original Gilligan's Island theme song is going to negatively impact traffic. It seems that for such successful programs, a lot of hoops are being created to jump through which were not set up for other programs which have seperate forums (ie: wrestling).

I read that seconds after he posted it last night but needed the last 12 hrs to calm down

There will always be a wrestling forum or I'm taking my marbles and going home 8)

Not to mention that wrestling, in their FIRST year of reinstatement- sent at least 3 to regionals.

Not knocking the accomplishments of Track/X-Ctry at all- just that the progam has had a few more years under its belt.

Wrestling is coming up fast.

Remember too, those other sports are all SPECTATOR sports. Not many people standing around watching someone run 5k thru the woods at 0800 on a Sat AM.

i think it is deserved. this has been a highly successful program and has been around more than wrestling. i will say that 01grad, you should try to get more track fans on the board. after having that conversation with coach tolsma a few weeks ago, i have a new appreciation for track.

I think they deserve their own forum, but I also think the debate team does as well. They've actually won multiple national championships.

Debate is not a sport. Maybe if they actually used the term "Flames" to refer to their team, but they don't. Because they are not an athletic team.

They're not getting their own forum here. Maybe on ludebateteamfans.com
