LU men lead after day 1 of Track and Field Eastern regionals

Josh McDougal and Jon Hart second in their events.

Josh's 5000 meter time was 30 seconds off his nation's best earlier this year. hopefully he was saving his legs for future events.

Josh already has automatically qualifying times. He's basically racing to help his teammates at this point. He appears to be wisely not overdoing it in regionals so he doesn't run out of gas at nationals.
That said, the team is doing extremely well.

We finish 8th. LU's previous best in the regional was 25th! Florida State won big, dominating the sprint finals on day 2. Nice personal best performance of 6'11" by Matt Parker to finish 5th in the HJ. He lost out on automatically qualifying for the finals in a jump-off, but could still make it as an at large and join Josh, Jon and Clendon in Sacramento.
