Last year, Blackman goalkeeper Paul Gilbert had a lot to deal with during his team's trip to Cookeville for the Region 4-AAA soccer tournament, which Cookeville eventually won 7-6.
Gilbert, who had transferred to Blackman from Cookeville, took 80 minutes of taunts and catcalls from the Cavalier faithful for his decision to move to Murfreesboro.
Great story. Sounds like a great student-athlete... THEY ARE OUT THERE... in all sports... LU is quickly becoming the destination... Hopefully in a few years we'll drop the "small Baptist college" references as people see us as "The Largest Evangelical University"... it has a ring to it.

A year of hard work and excellent play has paid off for a group of area soccer players.
Five local players have been named to this year's Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association's Class AAA all-state team.
Gilbert was the last line of defense for the Blaze and did not disappoint from his keeper position. The Liberty University signee posted 14 shutouts and was a first team All-District 7-AAA selection.
