Why can't we just play at London Downs? That's where we all practice, and host TRBC tournaments... And whatever happened to the on-campus facility they were planning on building circa 2003?

I think it was like $35 when I graduated for green fees and cart. I played a couple of years for the team, but was never any good.

There were talks about putting a course up on LU MT and people were even lined up for houses like Dr. Towns and a few others but to excavate the amount of dirt that would be needed would have shot the price per round up to a HUGE number, therefore it's on hold for a while, until they can figure something out

we evidently finished 5th out of 12 in this tourney- a final round aggregate score of 302, ending up at +44.

If I can figure out how to post a pdf file of the scores from round 3 I will- it indicates FINAL round but I was under the impression there were to be 4 rounds?

Flames Lead Field After First Round At Hargrove Davis Spring Classic
March 6, 2006 · Buies Creek, N.C.

The Flames finished the first round of the Hargrove Davis Spring Classic with a two-stroke lead and stand atop the leaderboard after the first day of competition at the event hosted by Campbell on the Keith Hill No. 1 Course.

Liberty carded a 12-over-par 300 after 18 holes, two strokes better than High Point and three in front of Campbell in the 15-school field. Not all of the teams were able to complete Monday’s second round due to darkness. The second round of the 54-hole tournament will be completed Tuesday at 7:30 a.m., followed by the final 18 in the afternoon.

San Francisco’s Domingo Jojola and High Point’s Ryan Wilson were the lone players to shoot par with 72s over the first round. Steve Ransom of Drexel and Army’s Jimmy Fisher each finished the first round at one-over-par 73 on the par-72, 6703-yard layout and are currently tied for third place in the field of 84 golfers.

Liberty’s Andrew Turner and Albie Powers pace the way for the Flames as the two Liberty golfers are tied for fifth after two-over-par rounds of 74. Turner overcame a rough first nine holes as he made the turn at four-over-par (40), but the senior was able to rally and card the best nine holes of the afternoon by finishing the final nine holes at two-under par (34).

Also finishing for the Flames were Parker McKoy and Peter Horstman, who are both tied for 15th place after a four-over-par 76, while Jay Calvo is tied for 50th after a seven-over-par 79.

The Flames also have two golfers competing as individuals as Michael Turner is tied for 15th after a four-over-par 76, while Peter Hong is tied for 33rd after a six-over-par 78.

AAARGH! we lose to the Camels  in a playoff- thanks in part to shooting 306 in the last round. Thats the way the putts role, though- still a good showing for the guys.

(from the Campbell website)

Campbell Wins Hargrove B. Davis Spring Classic Men’s Golf Tournament
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Three Fighting Camels finished among the top 11 individuals and Campbell won a four-hole play-off for the team title Tuesday in the Hargrove B. Davis Spring Classic men’s golf tournament at Keith Hills Country Club No. 1.

Isak Pettersen’s birdie putt on the par-4, number-4 hole provided the winning margin for the host Camels, who shot the day’s low round of 300 to recover from a six-stroke deficit heading into the final 18 holes.

Campbell ended the 54-hole tournament at 902 strokes, as did runner-up Liberty. Elon was third (913), followed by George Washington (915) and San Francisco (918) in the 15-school field.

Domingo Jojola of San Francisco won medalist honors with an even-par 216 following Tuesday’s 2-over 74. Brian Carroll of George Washington, who shot the tournament’s low round of 67 on Monday afternoon, was the runner-up at plus-two 218. Matt Cook of Western Carolina was third (220), followed by Campbell’s Fredric Sundberg (75-73-73—221).

Bennett Smith of Elon shot the day’s low round of three-under 69 in windy conditions on the par-72, 6703 Keith Hills No. 1 layout. Smith finished in a five-way tie for seventh place at 225 along with Campbell teammates Johan Rydheim and Matt McIntyre.

Liberty had no players among the top 11 individuals, but four Flames finished in order from 12th through 15th place, led by John Parker McKoy and Raul Calvo at 226.

Campbell University’s spring men’s golf tournament is named in the memory of the only coach to lead the Fighting Camels to a national championship in school history, Hargrove Bellamy Davis. During his tenure as men’s golf coach from 1969-77, Coach Davis led the team to six top-10 national finishes, including the school’s only national championship, the 1970 NAIA crown. His golf teams finished second nationally in 1973, fourth in 1971 and 1975, fifth in 1972 and 10th in 1977, the final season before Campbell joined the NCAA Division I ranks. Davis was inducted posthumously into the Campbell Sports Hall of Fame in October 2001.

Flames Tie For First But Lose To Camels In Playoff At Hargrove Davis Spring Classic
March 7, 2006 · Buies Creek, N.C.

Host Campbell fired a final round best 300 to finish tied for first with Liberty, while Campbell’s Isak Pettersen sank a birdie putt on the fourth playoff hole to break the tie and give the Camels the tournament victory at the Hargrove Davis Spring Classic on Tuesday.

Liberty stood atop the leaderboard after all three rounds of the two-day tournament as the Flames finished the event with a 38-over par 902 (300-296-306), while Campbell (303-299-300) overcame a six-stroke deficit heading into the final round to force the playoff.

Both teams had opportunities to seal the victory over the first three holes of the playoff, but it was a birdie putt by Pettersen on the par four, number four hole that provided the winning margin.

Both teams finished well ahead of the rest of the field as Elon finished third with a 49-over par 913 (306-306-301), while George Washington finished fourth with a 51-over par 915 (308-302-305).

The tie for first place was a total team effort for the Flames as Liberty placed four of its five golfers in the Top 15. Parker McKoy (76-75-75) and Jay Calvo (79-72-75) finished tied for 12th with a 10-over par 226, while Peter Hortsman (76-75-76) took 14th place with 11-over par 227 and Andrew Turner (74-74-80) finished 15th with a 12-over par 228.

Albie Powers rounded out the Flames golfers as the finished tied for 42nd place with a 19-over par 235 (74-81-80). Liberty also had two individuals compete in the tournament as Michael Turner finished tied for 36th with an 18-over par 234 (76-79-79) and Peter Hong finished tied for 45th with a 20-over par 236 (78-79-79).

The Flames return to the links this weekend when they travel to Huntersville, N.C. to participate in the Birkdale Collegiate Classic hosted by Charlotte at the Birkdale Golf Club on Friday and Saturday.
