Congrats to both the men and ladies teams on solid performances.

Congrats too, thru gritted teeth, to CCU. This more than likely assures them of winning the Sasser Cup.

Anyone have any insights into why the logo for track doesn't look right? The eagle is too small and off to the right, wouldn't it look better to be more centered, or at least larger to extend over to the start of the word "Liberty"?

Some good news and bad news for LU Track at the NCAAs
McDougal Advances To Finals At NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
June 7, 2006
Sacramento, Calif.

Liberty’s Josh McDougal finished sixth in his preliminary heat of the 5,000 meters, while an injury forced Brandon Hoskins to pull out of competition in the decathlon in the first day’s action at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

McDougal (So., Perry, N.Y.) posted a time of 14:00.22 in Heat 2 of the 5,000 meters to finish sixth in the heat that included the seven fastest times of the two preliminary heats. Texas A&M Corpus Christi’s Shadrack Songok recorded the fastest time of the day with a time of 13:55.32, while Arkansas’ Seth Summerside followed closely behind with a time of 13:55.73.

Of the 26 runners in the event, McDougal was one of 16 to qualify for the finals on Friday at 7:30 p.m. (PST) which will be the final event of the third day of competition at the Championship.

Hoskins (So., Garden City Texas), who entered the Championship with a hamstring injury, was able to complete in the 100 meters, the long jump and the shot put before his injury flared back up and forced him to pull out of the decathlon.

Hoskins finished 11th in the 100 meters with a time of 11:40, 16th in the long jump with a distance of 6.65 meters and 11th in the shot put with a distance of 12.85 meters. Hoskins compiled 2,164 points in the first three events and was ranked 15th out of 26 athletes when he pulled out of the decathlon.

I would love to see Josh win his first national championship, but I don't think it is going to come on the track. He is going to have to drop over 20 seconds off of his 5k season best to have a chance. For those of you who aren't track savy, that means he has no chance.

I will say that he has got a great shot at Cross Country nationals next fall. The Wisconsin kids are tough, but they don't have the bald spot and Horton's trails in Madison.

based on those numbers, I'd agree wholeheartedly. 20 seconds mights as well be 2 minutes. The guy does rock on the C/C course- and I think little bro will give him run for his money eventually as well!
