We finished our Quiz Bowl season with a 3-game scrimmage against our all star alumni team made up of 4 graduate students and former captains--Corbin Paine in law school at UTK, Eddie Brown at med school at VCOM, Dallas Shipp from LSU, and Catherine Hardee in the M.A. history program at LU. This was held in the new Hancock Welcome Center, and many thanks to Tyler Falwell for providing gift bags for our distinguished Quiz Bowl alumni.

Yet our varsity team of one senior, two sophomores, and one freshman beat the alumni team in both games!

Varsity 435, Alumni 300
Varsity 400, Alumni 365

In the middle game, however, the alumni did beat our JV squad for their only win of the night:
Alumni 645, JV 160

When we play out of conference, the LU Quiz Bowl team beats ACC and SEC schools like UVa, Tech, UNC, Duke, Maryland, NC State, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Auburn.

We've never gone into Cajun country to play some of those Deep South schools, but if we can beat UVa by 160 points and Maryland by 325 points, I'm thinking we could do okay in the Sun Belt.

The LU website has a nice article about the team's 4 wins at UVa, with picture:

It's been a busy week, so I'm a little late in reporting this, but last Sunday (Nov. 17) at the Dragoon Tournament hosted by Virginia Tech, the LU Quiz Bowl team scored 6 wins, including one again VA Tech and two against UVa:

Liberty 175, Virginia 140
Liberty 165, Virginia Tech 100
Liberty 215, Virginia 85

We will also be hosting a dual match against Longwood on December 3, which will take place at the Snowflex lodge.

Longwood University contacted us and asked if they could scrimmage us in preparation for the Big South Conference tournament that they will be hosting in January, so they drove over from Farmville last night for a 3-game scrimmage held at the Snowflex lodge. Last year, Longwood finished 4-2 in the Big South to finish second in the conference. Results from last night:

Game 1: Liberty 390, Longwood 120
Game 2: Liberty JV 285, Longwood 155 (Longwood led at the half, 140-125)
Game 3: Liberty 425, Longwood 110
