LU has won so many games against the top-tier academic schools that our teams are very much respected. I'm FB friends with many of the coaches.
My favorite part is when we can beat state schools on evolution questions, which just happened again yesterday! :fineprint

Cider, do you think LU's teams will ever get to the point where they are putting up a decent fight against some of the best A teams in the nation (Top 25) because if I recall, that level of quizbowl is an entirely different monster altogether. I hope one day the Flames can bring home that national title.

In the past 4 years, we finished in the top 20 nationally TWICE: we were ranked 20th in 2014 and ranked 14th in 2015 (that year we beat Ohio State and Michigan) . This year, we finished ranked 51st nationally (upper third), but were 3rd in our region, only losing to Virginia Tech and NC State; our best win was over Princeton.

The Big South tournament is next Saturday in High Point, where we are 10-time champions.

Division I is for players who have been to nationals before; Division II is for players who haven't been to nationals. The key is to take only seniors to nationals, so you can play Division II until they graduate. Many of the Division I players are also graduate students.

DII is what undergraduate teams are that have no players who have gone to nationals.

Purple, isn't NAIA what you played at Judson, or was it NCCAA? Play Basketball

Ballcoach, most of our games are at tournaments, but we are scrimmaging UVa, W&L, and Tech this week rather than driving all the way to Pittsburgh for a novice tournament at Carnegie Mellon University.
