Guys, the ladies program have been mediocre since the last coach left after a successful season to his alma mater, Notre Dame. Wedemeyer has mot improve this program at all; he needs to go. I need thoughts/opinions :typing.

One game into the season may be a bit early to make drastic judgements.

Its been a couple/few years and no progress. The mediocre stench is already lurking from the decay of past seasons. That's my opinion; listen to the the Flames Central Podcast. At the end they're talking about other growing programs. Even the men's program has a spark and no mention of the women's program. They know, Ian knows and Wedemeyer knows it also.

Something similar to this perhaps?

Wedemeyer is in his 5th season and to call overall results mediocre is probably being kind.

10-7-2 and 6-2 in conference with both conference losses 1-0 in OT. Ya he should go.

They did lose to 6th seed NJIT in the first round of the ASUN tourney, but yes, last year was pretty good. Overall, not so much. Nate Norman was a tough act to follow. He is now HC at ND.

He didn't start coaching at LU until the 2018 season. That's 2 years. Overall record 16-17-4.

That isn't correct according to Liberty's press release:
Liberty University Director of Athletics Ian McCaw announced the hiring of Lang Wedemeyer as Liberty's new head women's soccer coach on Jan. 31, 2017.

Why was Nate Norman so great? His bio says: "Before returning to Notre Dame, Norman spent one season as the head coach at Liberty University, guiding the Flames to a 14-8 record"

14-8 is a tough act to follow?

You're correct. Not 2 years but 3. Thanks. That means his coaching record at LU is 26-23-6 and 18-6-1 in conference. The point is talk about changing coaches is a little premature INHO.

So true

Can't argue with that point. That loss was bad

Great point! 18-6-1 does seem solid.

How long does a coach have to win championships? Does McCaw even care about the women's soccer win/loss record?

Look at how he helped build the womens soccer program at Baylor. Yes, he cares.

Two games played in two years is tough for us to make serious judgements. But I agree that the results have not been there considering how well funded our program s in relation to the rest of our league.

Any thoughts after 3 games in?

There is no question that non-conference has been disappointing.

Overall agreed, minus the positives in the JMU post

Trying to stay positive but the optics are bad. The men's team looks sharp and Wedemeyer's team looks like they haven't trained all fall and the first 2 months of 2021 together

Head coach's ability to take the program to the next level since his arrival in 2017 = :medic

Playing style and results tough to watch :banghead

Can anyone honestly see the women's soccer program consistently competing with UVA, VT, Duke, Stanford, UCLA, UNC?
Men just beat UNC. Finley here less time

Wedemeyer struggles to beat ASUN opponents= :dontgetit

Ask Wedemeyer if his team could beat UNC or UVA or VT today. Bet u know his answer and that is a big problem :boxing

There is a reason why Liberty beat VT in football. Liberty football does not have better players. Coaching matters! :pbjtime
